Hello All! Just found out that my neighbor is going to Disney on Friday until Wednesday March 5th. I'm having serious heart palpations as they only have a hotel (Caribbean) booked, nothing else! Please help me in trying to get their "plan" taken care of.

Info: Two adults, two kids, kindergartner and a 7th grader. Not too concerned about rides but the little one likes Jake and the Pirates. Their must dos are Star Wars stuff and seeing the Castle. For now they only think they are going to HS and MK.

I haven't been since the new changes, but I can give them what I do know from before, i.e. ROPE DROP!! and others. But I would surely like any and all info I could give them.

TIA!!!

They will be fine, honestly! A quick run through of the ADR site shows lots of availability for a party of four at both lunch and dinner. Sure, some of the most popular places will be booked, but there are plenty of options. And they can always do counter service instead.

Since they aren't too fussed about the rides, they may not even have to get there at rope drop. It's still a slower time of year--Touring Plans is showing anywhere from a 3 to a 6 next week. So it should be very manageable.

I am a bit surprised that they are only doing two parks during a full week's vacation. Do they have other off-site plans? Just planning to relax at the hotel? That's the only thing that sticks out to me.

I'm sure they'll have a great time! I think sometimes the Dis makes it seem like you have to do an insane amount of planning months in advance to enjoy yourself, and that simply isn't true.

W/a Jake lover they should do b'fast at Hollywood & Vine (HS); Jake is one of the characters for that. I haven't done it (it's def on my plan for next year) but a friend of mine went this summer & said they had a blast. If they plan for a later b'fast time, they could make it a "brunch" type of meal, saving them some money too (if that's a concern).

OP... step back and breathe. Many people go to WDW with absolutely no plan beyond having a resort booked and still manage to have an amazing time. A friend of mine just did it in January and they even managed to snag a BOG dinner ADR while they were there.

H&V also has Jake and the other characters at lunch if they can't get a breakfast time that works for them. Lunch also has the chocolate fountain which is why my reservation is for lunch for my DD.

My main concern is the magic bands and finding them things to do that won't be huge lines.

How late is too late to order tickets to utilize FP+?

Should they have been able to get FP+ because they have a room (heard about the throw away room), or do you need tickets as well?

Thanks again all!

I agree, but I've also had friends that didn't have a plan that hated it. I just want them to enjoy, so that they may "get it".

My understanding is you need tickets to be linked for FP+. I have a reservation at CBR for April/May but my tickets are being purchased through the event sponsor for my daughter's cheer comp (tix are substantially discounted from what I would pay through a Disney package). Even though I booked CBR through Disney, I will not be able to make FP reservations until I get my tickets in hand when I get to Disney and then link it to my CBR reservation. I just looked at my reservation through MDE and saw that I was selected for MM. Not sure who gets selected or why but it will be nice to have them before I land in Disney. I will pick up my park hoppers from the sponsor when we land, link them to my account, and then make FP reservations for the rest of my trip.

People are reporting being able to get FP+ the day of in the park pretty easily. Your friends should have no problem getting theirs.
