OK, saw the pics from the girls only trip and want to know what I need to know to get onto the Lilly Belle. I've heard it mentioned here and there but nothing more than how cool it was. Any tips as to how I swing this?

Well, we did it as part of the VIP Tour, but I believe you don't have to be in a formal tour to get on it. What I would do is the first day you are in the parks go to City Hall and inquire. They only run the car certain hours a day (it's usually on the first train and one of the first to end its run for the day according to our tour guide) so you may need to be flexible.

It's the Parlor Train they add to the back of the WDW railroad. It is very cool indeed. My DH, DD and I were fortunate enough to be able to ride it last year.

You go to the Main Street Station and ask a conductor if you can ride in the Lilly Belle. They may or may not allow you to ride. There must be a conductor in the car with you at all times. Another thing you might try is to ask a conductor at the main street station if yo can ride the tender. When you ride the tender you are essentially sitting in the locomotive cab with the engineer and fireman. Just be nice and hope you get a conductor who likes you. I doubt City Hall would be much help.

I think you can only ride the tender on trains 1 and possibly 2, I don't remember the train names, and only from Main Street

ramkam is right. This past November I asked at the Main Street station and they let my friend and I ride in the Lilly Belle. They had a lot of people working so someone was available to sit back there with us. It was fun and the CM told us some fun facts about working at Disneyland and about the park itself. :goodvibes

Will be there the long weekend before Thanksgiving (Thursday- Monday) Is there a better day or time to try?
