We usually stay at Pop Century (only resort we've ever tried - as we just love it!), however it wasn't available under my sister's CM discount.

So, we decided to stay at AsMu for the first time. How are the busses? And how about getting from your room to the food court and bus stops - at Pop we'd been able to get there quickly, even when staying in the 80's and 90's buildings.

We will be there Dec. 12th-19th. Please help me get excited about AsMu!!

Thank you!

I may be in the same situation as you. I decided this morning to take a quick December trip, and I haven't stayed at the All Star Resorts since Pop Century opened. I tried getting an annual passholder rate at Pop Century for Dec 9-12. The reservations cast member told me the Yacht Club was the only resort with an AP rate for those dates. I checked online, and All Star Music and Sports were available if I changed my dates to Dec 11-14. I'm thinking about booking a room at Music.

I like the all stars more, mostly because they seem less crowded. There's not much of a difference IMO otherwise. I know there are little differences between them, but for the most part, you should like ASMu as much as POP. I've seen lines for POP very long, at the same time they separated the all stars and those lines were shorter.

ASMu is great! It is the prettiest of the All Stars and the theme is pleasing to both adults and kids. It is also the only value resort that shows movies by the pool at night. Grab a snack from the food court and relax by the pool watching a movie. It's a great way to wind down your day.

I don't think it's too much of a walk to the main building from even the furthest room for anyone without mobility issues.

Have a great time.
Peg

I'll be there just about the same days as you. We booked a family suite and this is our first time at an All Star, first time at a value. I'm hoping this thread will get me all jazzed up (pun intended ;)) for our trip!

We have stayed at ASMo, Pop, and ASMu...and ASMu was our favorite! The rooms have been refurbished and the resort had a less hectic feel to it. We found it much quieter and more relaxing than the other two resorts. We loved the theming in ASMo, but the rooms are pretty tired and desparately need redone. At Pop, the rooms were new and the theming was great, but the buses were always crowded, the lines were always long, and it was a long haul from the parking lot to our room (lugging all our stuff upon check in was awful). But at ASMu, we never shared a bus, never waited for a bus due to a bus being full, the lines were definitely shorter, and we really enjoyed walking around the resort in the evening. It just seemed quieter and less hectic...and I agree that the movies by the pool every night was great! It would be our choice for a Value resort every time! :goodvibes

One thing about AS Music that is really cool is that the music notes on the curtains in the rooms make up a real Disney song. I think last time I was there, the music notes on the curtain was When You Wish Upon A Star or maybe the Mickey Mouse Club song. I don't remember for sure, it has been several years since I was there. I don't know if you are musically inclined or if that would be cool for a non-musician, but it's one of my favorite things at AS Music.

Original poster, thank you for posting this thread. We have reservations for the CBR during free dining but are looking for a value for our first night at Disney. Right now, we are thinking about All Star Music. So, I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

That is something that a non musical person wouldn't notice but as a Disney lover, that's exactlyt he kind of detail that puts the magic in the World! I love that! Thanks for pointing it out. My daughter plays trumpet and she reads music, I'll be sure to have her check it out!

We loved ASMu. The grounds were beautiful and well themed. The rooms were very clean and fresh. We stayed in a family suite in calypso, and loved being so close to everything, plus we were on the "side" of the building and it was so quiet! Our kids loved the theming and the activities. We never had a problem with the buses, and even had a CM go above and beyond to get us a ride in one of the supervisors vans when we thought we might be late for an early morning ADR. We'd definitely stay here again.

Thanks for asking this question OP, we too are staying at ASMusic for the first time ever in June! Actually it will be our first time in a value. Our DD's dance studio is dancing in the parade and on stage at DHS and the whole group is staying at ASMusic, so that will be fun, but having never been there we're not sure what to expect. Glad to hear about the movies by the pool, that sounds like it will be a fun group activity for the girls one night. :)

Have a great trip!

We love staying music. We stay in the family suites as there is 5 in our family. The games and movies at the pool are great. Never had long waits for the bus. We have always been in the first buildings closest to the main building (and buses) as we stay in the suites.

Music is our family favorite of the values.
The first time we stayed there we could not get into Pop and were disappointed going in. Now we prefer it to Pop.
It is less crowded and hectic.
Bus service is very good. Mornings and evenings each All Star has its own busses. Midday they share which means a bus comes every few minutes instead of every 20.
We noticed last trip that at park closing, Music had more people in line for a bus than Sports so we took their bus the first 4 nights and had a seat where we might not have gotten on the bus or stood at Music. It was a short walk from the Sports bus stop to our room at Music. The lines at Pop would take 2 or 3 busses to get everyone in line.
The piano pool at Music is much less crowded and more relaxing than the quiet pools at Pop.
You can walk around the grounds and use the food courts and pools at either of the other All Stars. Music is in the middle, so neither is a bad walk.
We loved the theming of the Broadway section. Rock did not seem as well themed. Country is way far back--good if you prefer quiet; not if you want to walk less.
Hope you love it like we do!

ASMu is our favouite value too. We have only tried POP and ASMu (in the value category) mind you but I really do prefer the quieter less hectic atmosphere of ASMu.

The foodcourts are similar in offerings, but less crowded because of less people. The rooms are recently done, so nice and new. The pool has fun poolside games and activities as well as movies by the pool each evening, pull up a lounger, it is a great way to unwind after a day at the parks.

Busses were great. We never had to bus share more than maybe twice in our week long stays, which is great because POP has twice as many guests to cart around.

It really is a pretty little resort, no long walks from any location and nice and quiet for a midday snooze. It is our value resort of choice and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Enjoy:goodvibes

What a great thread! We are staying at ASMu in November and it is our first time at a Value resort. Question-one of the families has a Family Suite which I;m told has a coffee maker in the little kitchen area. Does anyone know if it is a full size coffee maker or one of those little ones that makes only two cups?

Thanks!

The coffee maker in the Family Suites holds 4 cups of coffee.

Here are photos of the coffee maker and the coffee:

All Star Music won't disappoint. It is very clean, and tends to be quieter than Movies or Sports. We have stayed here three years over Christmas week, and never had a problem. I just love the Broadway themed area, especially at night.

Thanks, Linda for the info and pictures! I think I will bring my own larger coffeemaker...we are planning for our group to have a quick breakfast in the family suite prior to getting to the parks...have heard the food courts at the Values get very crowded in the morning, although Free Dining is not offered during our dates or during the week prior to our arrival...not sure if that will make a difference or not...

I don't know about the OP but these posts sure are getting me excited for my stay at ASMu! Does anyone else have any more pictures?

I am getting excited about my Jan trip to ASMu family suites. ASMu is the only value I have not tried and it sounds great. I am hoping to fall head over heels :lovestruc so it can be my go to resort. I think my DD would love the Broadway section. Too bad they don't have suites in each section. Probably won't now with the new suite resort opening in 2012.
