Help me find a nice off-site that has DISNEY feel??

I obviously considered on-site and DVC...now I'm looking into off-site.

I saw a picture yesterday of someone who rented a unit and were supposed to have lake view but ended up with a view of POP which they thought was cool. You could see the bowling pins.

I'm leaning towards Bonnet CreeK or Horizons...

but question...I remember seeing a picture of a rental with POP century in the background...anyone know what that one is for curiousity sake?

Having never driven there, we have only done the WDW Bus system....is there one closer to EPcot and/or MK?? Thanks.

Trish

That was Bonnet Creek from an old thread showing photos:

Can't beat it for proximity. :thumbsup2

I promise I know all on-site options. I love staying on-site but I'm looking for OFF-SITE options in this post please. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the link AMW. I had just found it myself...it was driving my crazy. So BC is between CBR and POP. Good to know.

I can get 7 nights for $840 during the time I want to go at BC.

I did just finally get an email that a 1BR DVC is available from $990 OKW to BWV preferred [no standard available] $1320 for FIVE nights....if it was standard [would be $990] I'd be more tempted.

Marriott Grand Vista? Any opinions on that?

Thanks again guys.

Just in case you're not aware.....the 1 bedroom at OKW are very large. And you get a nice big full-size balcony. There is a very noticeable difference in extra space in the 1 bedroom at OKW vs the 1 bedrooms at all the other DVC resorts. On another side note.....the 1 bedrooms at Animal Kingdom Villas are the only ones that legally allow 5 in a room.

Back to BC.....it's a close to "feeling" like you're onsite as you can get. It's like 60 seconds away from Typhoon Lagoon.....

While most DVC 1BRs officially sleep four, Member Services will book five into them. You'll get room keys for all five people, but you will not get any extra bedding, so you'll have to supply your own---an air matterss+sleeping bag, or equivalent.

I wouldn't try it in the other DVC resorts, but the OKW 1BR is probably big enough to pull it off. My family of four (DD9 and DS7) stayed in a 1BR at OKW this past February on an exchange, and it was sufficiently comfortable.

I've also read that Bonnet Creek is similar in feel to OKW. Brian thanks for the PM. :thumbsup2

Now I just have to let DH pick what is most important to him, Disney Transportation and being able to book dining at 180 days or saving $ and more room + 2 more nights....

Still also looking into Horizons.

He is Mr. Spreadsheet and has to see the numbers...

Trish, I think you'd probably be happy at either Marriott Horizons (awesome pools for the kids) or Wyndham Bonnet Creek (nice pools, great location). Have you looked on TUG (see my sig) or Redweek.com for classified ads (rentals by owners) or on eBay for rentals? You may find something good there.

Also, just so you know, offsiters are also welcome to reserve dining (180 days) before the dining date. Onsite guests may reserve dining (180 days plus the number of days of your onsite reservation) before the dining date. So it's only going to make a difference for the absolutely toughest ressies, if you're calling just a few days later than the first onsiters. :)

Lisa P...good to know about dining..we're not going for any 'tough' ones this time so that's good.

I've found a great DIS er to rent Bonnet Creek...

Is there a DIS er that can rent Marriott so I can compare pricing?

The Pool area of Horizons looks great but BC is closer to the action and Horizons doesn't have a shuttle.

Dream Villas look great but all booked up.

:dance3:
Thanks for all the tips..

You never indicated what time of year you plan on going, at least not that I could see. That makes a big difference in the budget.
