Please all you experienced renters, help me find a decent car rental price
for a economy or compact car for May 8..approx 11 am and returning on May
15th 8am for MCO. I am trying to find a final rental price including taxes and
fees under $125.00. I booked a kind of last minute vacation to Disney and love having the option of the car rental.

Best I could come up with is $154.18 economy car at Alamo booking under the "SUNPROMO" (Soak up the sun and save) found under there "hotdeals" and adding coupon code AD8192SDD.

Might want to look into Priceline name your own price. I've done it with success but be sure to double check all info before you click, it's not refundable. Figure with the price above it's approx $14+/day before taxes. I'd start out bidding around $9. Keep in mind taxes will be added after (approx $50).

Good luck!

I messed around with a whole bunch of promo codes, and the best price I could get was in the $180 range (May 20-25).

I bid $13 for a compact, and it was rejected. However, I waited 24 hours, and was accepted at $15 for a mid-size. Total price is $148 and it is with Avis.

Good luck!

Unfortunately usually the closer you get to your travel date, the higher the cost of the rental. You can try Hotwire as most often you can get a rental well below the going rate. However, you won't know exactly which car rental agency you're getting until after you've accepted the deal. The other thing is you can go to each car rental agency website and check out their "last minute" specials. Good luck!

I ended up renting at Alamo an economy car for 7day for $150.86
using a 20% corp id code of 7014667 and $25.00 coupon off for weekly rental
of AD6974JDM. Thanks for all your replies. I appreciate it:wizard:

It gives the best discount, but I don't want to use it unless I'm allowed.

There are two Alamo coupons that give a better deal - AD8221SDF, and AD8192SDD. The second one is from the Costco website, but since that is available to the general public, I'm not sure if you need a Costco membership to use it (I read the fine print, and it seems to say you don't need one, but I could be intentionally misinterpreting it:rolleyes1). HTH

I found Alamo contract ID 7014667 on Carrentalsavers.com ...

"NEW! 20% off in sunshine states at Alamo! Use Alamo contract ID 7014667 to take advantage of this deal. Good in Florida, California, Las Vegas and Hawaii. Use for rental pickup by 6/15/10. May have limited available vehicles."

7014667 isn't a coupon code - it's a contract ID code. You can use both a contract ID code AND a coupon code when booking to further lower your rate.

The best deal right now is using ID 7014667 and coupon AD8192SDD. Example: Would save marypaul $5.00.

I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear when I posted. I meant that these coupons would give a better deal when used with any contract ID. It's one of those "Well I knew what I was talking about" things.:goodvibes

Help please.
Ok..so I used the Alamo 20% ID code 7014667 and Costco $30 OFF coupon code AD8221SDF for my trip in November. Got a pre-tax Compact for $113.92, best I could find so far. Yea!...all happy and proud of myself...However, after resv was confirmed, I noticed on Carrentalsavers that ID code is only valid for pick up by 6/15/10. My dates are obviously after that, but code was accepted. ??? Did I just get lucky, or am I going to encounter problems at pick up? TIA for any help.

I can't tell you if you will have trouble or not, but I CAN tell you that I've frequently had the online reservation system tell me an ID code or a coupon were going to expire prior to the rental. IME it won't take a code or coupon not good at rental.

::yes:: Tara is correct :thumbsup2

Thanks for your responses! I also have had a coupon rejected, so I was surprised it went thru. Maybe they will be extending the promotion to include my dates? Hmm...

I'd like the answer to this, too, I just used ID7014667 and coupon code AD8192SDD and got a better deal - $160/week instead of the $173 I had booked.

I just want to make sure that I won't have to show a membership ID or the coupon when we are picking up? I can't seem to find where this contract ID is from.

I think the coupon code is from Costco....I have this exact discount booked and on the email conformation it says "Costco May 2010 Campaign ($30.00)" under discounts. Does your conformation say the same? The online Alamo conformation does not indicate what kind of discoutn it is but the email does... Maybe someone else can confirm the discount?

No, under "discounts" it says:
Discount ($34.60)
Affinity Weekly Offer ($30.00)

There's nothing on the confirmation page that says Costco - or any other company name. I wondered if there was something that would cause the agent in the garage to ask for a membership card and/or the coupon? The contract ID code is listed.

Thanks to anyone who can give clarification! I hate to get there and be unpleasantly surprised!

I just went to the Costco online website and went through all eight offers and the ID/Coupon codes do not match.

Hopefully the person who posted the information can verfiy its source.:goodvibes

I am also concerned about the origin of the code.

I also checked the Costco website and the Code (7014667) is not found anywhere on their site, so I'm unsure to who/what it belongs. :confused3

As for the coupon code - I found this on carrentalsavers.com:
NEW! Alamo Coupon, $30 off weekly! For $30 off weekly - use Alamo coupon code AD8192SDD. Requires 5 day rental, use for rental pickup by 5/22/10. May be blacked out for Holiday period. No printout required.
