Help me figure out packages with ddp - hopefully free dining :)

I’m new to WDW packages and free dining. We will have annual passes, but I think I want to try and book a package to take advantage of free dining for our trip at the end of summer. I’m hoping you all can help me sort out the details.

Here’s what I think I know: free dining offers will probably be released to the public sometime between March and April for dates at the end of August and early September. It will be important to book quickly once the offer is released. I will have to purchase a package that includes room and tickets in order to get the free dining promotion. I’m okay with buying tickets since the value can be used towards our next AP renewal.

Here are my questions: 1. Which moderate resorts are most likely to have rooms for free dining if I’m aiming for the end of August (arrive around 26 or 27th)? 2. Can I buy as little as 2 days worth of tickets in the package and stay 6 nights on property? (We can use AP for entrance to the parks.)

1. Caribbean, Coronado, and Riverside should all have rooms, but they may only have preferred rooms.
2. Yes, but for the past two years, you had to buy the 2-day, park hopper tickets. You can hold on to these and use their value toward your next AP.

Release dates for free dining have traditionally been late April to early May.
