Help me design this new theme park

OK. So here's my idea for a new Disney theme park .... Basicially, the setup is just like what we have in the World Showcase, only instead of different countries, we'll have different U.S. cities/states/regions. Perhaps we can call it "American Showcase."

(OK ... I know this will never really happen. Disney's not going to build a theme park so similar to what they already have. Heck, they probably aren't even going to build any new theme parks in the near future. The point here is merely discussion)

What I'm trying to come up with is the various pavilions that can be included, and what those pavilions might feature. Here's a few ideas:

- Memphis. Will feature a music theme. Replica of Sun Studio, perhaps Graceland. Barbecue ribs will be the fare of the day.

- Iowa. State fair theme, complete with a life-size cow made of butter. Maybe even an updated and Disneyfied version of the underwater boat ride that's been at the Iowa State Fair for years. Fare of the day will be pork tenderloins.

- New Orleans. French quarter theme. Mardi gras parade daily. Lots of food options.

- New England. I'm picturing the typical New England fishing village. Put in a lighthouse. Serve lobster and clam chowder.

- Hawaii. The whole pavilion will be on an island. White sand beach for the kids to play in. Luau every night.

- Washington. Patriotic, how-a-bill-becomes-a-law theme. Partner with the Smithsonian to bring in exhibits from the national museum.

- New York. Broadway theme, with a classic show (42nd St, A Chorus Line, etc.) performed daily. Hot dog stands. Maybe a miniature Central Park.

- Colorado. Mountain theme. Many options for a skiing-related thrill ride. Not sure about food options ... does Colorado have a distinct flavor?

These are just a few ideas. I'd love to hear what ideas other posters can come up with.

I actually like your idea and I won't stink up your thread (yet) with my humorous suggestions for other lands.

New York should have a high tech speed ride themed to a taxi ride or a police chase. Kind of like a mix between Test Track and Dinosaur.

Also transfer Soarin over to this park.

With Memphis include Beale Street. It's one of the most famous Memphis landmarks beside Graceland.

I was going to say you should have an Ohio, but after thinking about it for a few minutes, I couldn't think of any attractions to put in Ohio. Kind of sad really, considering that I live here in Ohio.

But actually, I think an American themed park would be better in Disneyland Paris or some other country. Having an American themed park in America would kind of be like having a California themed park in Califor...oh wait, nevermind.

Disney already has plans for this theme park. It was to be called Disney's America and was going to be built in northern Virginia outside DC in Manassas. Some locals, led by Robert Duvall (thats right don't go see any of his movies again) faught it to the point of killing the project. They were afraid that they would get an "Anaheim" like place surrounding the park. DH and I laugh at this concept because Manassas is already alot like that in places.

:) A Hawaii pavilion would mean more Lilo and Stitch mercandise. Yay! But i don't really like the idea as a whole, no offense. :) It's too similar to World Showcase, and they could do something more original.

Wasn't there a theme park like that in Brooklyn called Vacationland or something like that?

New Orleans can have an attraction similar to Soarin' but they could call it Lootin'.

There are Rocky Mountain Oysters, but I don't think those would be to popular. :lmao:

Ok eewwww. lol. Being originally from CO, I think that is too funny.
On the serious side, I don't know if CO has any one distinct type food. However, there are TONS of people who hunt and fish. What about fresh caught lake trout? Even better, catch your own! Manmade lake with a mountain/field backdrop. Or elk jerky. yummy. Elk burgers. Bison burgers.

Now that I live in Arizona, what about a hotter than he!! theme? :sunny: Kidding, a grand canyon attraction would be interesting.

I think it is fun to get the creative juices flowing. Thanks for perking my brain up this afternoon.
