HI  I have a minor dilemma. I am torn between the following hotel/ticket options (dollar amounts are rounded up to the nearest dollar):

Dates of stay for BOTH options: MARCH 6 - 12, 2004

OPTION #1--
One night at the Hilton in the WDW Resort:
$166.00 ($149 + tax)

5 nights at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas (Studio-Preferred view):
$532 (Renting points from DVC member)

2 adults/1child advance purchase 5-day REGULAR park hoppers:
$646

2 adults/1child advance puarchase Disney Quest tickets:
$63

Grand Total for OPTION #1: $1407.00

OPTION #2--
6 nights at Disney’s Pop Century Resort (Standard Room) with Ultimate Park Hoppers for 2 adults/1 child….discounted with the VISA discount (child’s ticket is free). Plan includes: Pin & Lanyard Set (Set of 2 Pins and 2 Lanyards) & Disney’s choice feature….whatever this is?? Anyone know??

Grand Total for OPTION #2: $1427.00

First off, let it be known that we are in no way 1st timers...we go to WDW every year and have been several times.

To me, the pros of plan #1 are Location, Location, Location!! I've always wanted to stay at the Boardwalk, and this price is GREAT!

The pros for plan #2 are new resort, never having to switch rooms during our stay, full maid service included, and the freedom you have with the Ultimate Park Hoppers (which for us would mean more opportunities to visit Disney Quest).

Here are the cons of plan #1 from my point of view: Changing hotels, limited ticket option in order to keep costs down, and no full housekeeping (which can be viewed as a pro if you consider there is no one to tip each day....we've done the DVC points rentals many times, and the lack of daily maidservice was never actually a "problem" for me).

The cons of plan #2 are: The location is not as great, the hotel is not deluxe, and the tickets probably have more options than we really need....(i.e., we'll never be water park people).

Which would you pick and why?

Thanks guys!

For the extra $80, I would go with the BWV. Aside from the location, you will also have the luxury of a kitchenette where you can prepare breakfast and light snacks. But, I think you're leaning in that direction anyway.

HEHEHEHE

I would choose Option 1 because THAT IS WHAT WE ARE DOING IN JANUARY:teeth:

Its me Dh, DD and DS and I am the only one to ever stay onsite.

We got the 4 day hopper and figure it will be SO MUCH FUN to tour the other properties(for future visits OF COURSE:teeth: )

We are staying offsite on Sat night(way too expensive FOR US to stay at BWV for a Sat night) then plan on being at BWV bright and early on Sun Jan 11, spend sunday, monday and Tuesday in park, Wed Day Off, Thurs back to MK then check out on Friday and go to Sea World.

I am looking forward to the kitchenette and extra room for naps if need be.

I would be more than willing to update about BWV when I get back in January

good luck and let me know what you decide!@!!

No contest...#1! And you'll be just a short walk across the street to DD the day you're at the Hilton.

You're right! I am definitely leaning toward BWV. And I had totally forgotten to include the kitchenette in my list of pros! Duh! That alone is a HUGE money saver!

And actually, budget-wise, I'll be saving $20 by choosing the deluxe resort! How often does that happen?!?!

Okay, no more dilemma. I'm sticking with my originial plan......Boardwalk (and Hilton) HERE WE COME!:Pinkbounc

Thanks guys!!!:sunny:

I would definitely go with option #1.

I'm curious about why you are staying at the Hilton when you could get the Swan or Dolphin or a Disney moderate for no more $.

The only really good reason I can offer is the same idea "ncbyrne" mentioned.....the distance from Downtown Disney. I figure that since we we'll arrive late afternoon on March 6th, we'll not want to waste a day on our park hoppers....we'll just shop, catch a movie or walk around and soak up the atmosphere of DD. AND, we'll be able to go to EE at the MK the next morning without having to stop at the Boardwalk first since DD Hilton is the only off-property hotel to offer the Extra Magic Hour.

I checked the website, but both the Swan and the Dolphin don't seem to have the night of March 6, 2004 available.

Besides, I budgeted no more than $150 (pretax) for that one night. At this time, and considering that we're traveling during Disney's PEAK season, the best Disney room-only deal I can find for anything near that price is a Value (Hilton would be better, IMO). PO Riverside comes up at $169 BEFORE taxes. I might check back at a later time to see if there is a room-only discount available , but I hightly doubt it for just the one night (a Saturday night at that) in March.
