I am looking at two trip quotes for a trip. One is for the Contemporary and one for the Poly. I just stayed at the Poly for 1 night during construction and had no issues. I do know the pool will be closed when we go this next trip. We will not have time for Blizzard Beach. What are my options for swimming? Or would we be smarter to pay 400 more and stay at the contemporary? My son and hubby really love the Poly and it will be a hard sell for the Contemporary but we definitely need a swimming option. What do you guys think? Thanks!!

My understanding of the main pool closure at Poly is that the only substitution is a pass to BB. I have read specifically that other resort pools are not an option.

If you use the pool often during your trips, I would pay the $400 and move to CR. We love CR and the pools, we also love the water activities available on Bay Lake. :goodvibes

What do y'all think of the Contemporary pool? I know the Volcano pool at the Poly had a view of the MK and a nice slide. Does the pool at the contemporary compare?

Also, what about the walk from the garden wing to the main building? How does that compare to other resorts like POFQ or Poly?

Depends on where in the garden wing your room is located. If you are at the end nearest to the main building, it's a short walk. However, if your room as at the far (Bay Lake) end of the garden wing, the walk can be significant. We were assigned a far room once, and after walking it one time, we asked and were moved to a room nearer the main building.

If we are getting a standard view I am assuming it is the garden wing. Would the standard views be the far away rooms?

Thanks for the great advice so far guys! I have not stayed at the Contemporary so I'm learning!

I have never stayed at the poly, but I did just stay at contemporary late May and it was probably one of the best disney trips I've been on (I'm a seasonal passholder and go monthly) it was super convienant with the monorail, the pool area was nice, had a slide for the kids and even a smaller pool in the back for adults. The "beach" was very nice at night when watching the water parade. The poly is under a lot of construction, which means that a room you get could have construction right outside by the patio. And also construction indoors next to kona cafe (I ate there one night). I did not stay in the garden view I had tower bay lake view which was very nice, the garden view isn't so far away from the tower but it could be a little annoying walking back and fourth for food, drinks, monorail, etc.

I would go with the CR. It is a super convenient resort! The pool is simple but has a nice view over Bay Lake and a slide.

We loved staying at CR! I was surprised because I didn't think that I would enjoy staying there.

Thanks guys!! I think I am convinced. Worries my hubby may not like being out on a garden wing but we can't afford inside! We will just have to walk! After looking back at the quotes it is only 220 more for CR!
