I need help deciding what to get my stepdaughter (10) for Christmas. She knows money is really tight so she is asking for pretty much nothing this year. I know we are getting her a new bike and she has expressed an interest in Singamajigs so we will be getting her one of those but I really can't decide what else. She likes music and playing games on the computer. She loves Disney and fairies in particular. Her room is full of craft stuff she doesn't want anymore. I have thought of an Ipod, a magazine subscription, a karaoke machine, a gift card for new clothes and a new comforter for her bed. I'm not sure which of these to go with or what else to consider. Suggestions? And if you have any ideas for a 15 year old boy, I would love to hear those too :)

I don't know what your budget is, but if it is tight, the bike, singamajigs, and maybe a few books is more than enough! Ipod is a high ticket gift if you are trying to keep costs down. Board games are always a choice in our family, but not others.

15yo boy I would get a gift card to the local gaming store if he is into that. My son also goes through tons of earbuds so we tend to get him a few of those. Also, you may let him download Minecraft on the computer if he likes that type of stuff. Outside of electronics, does he want a special type of jeans, coat, or hat/gloves. Sometimes they are the expensive type and could be a definite favorite gift.

This is so similar to our family! DD9 gets board games every year, she is so into those. This year she's also really into Monster High dolls, but then she loves dolls in general. We got a singamajig last year and I ended up returning it because the kids thought it was stupid. I kind of liked it myself though. :rolleyes1

DS17 and DS18 are always happy with gamestop gift cards, but then they're into video games in general. DS17 usually asks for Hot Topic jeans too.

All three of my kids have gone crazy over Minecraft! :upsidedow

With money being tight, I would definitely eliminate the Ipod.. There are some nice kareoke machines that aren't too expensive - in case she loses interest in it later.. Do you happen to have a Wii? If so, there are lots of things you can purchase to go with that and the whole family could enjoy it - even the 15 yr. old boy..

Computer games can be relatively inexpensive - depending on what she likes.. Also - is she opposed to "used, like new"? Plenty of those on Amazon and they are pretty strict on the used policies.. Any favorite tv series you could get on DVD's? Again - Amazon.. Used sellers have new ones that are still shrink-wrapped and often cheaper (even with shipping) than "new" from Amazon (unless there's a sale).. And again, you could do the same with music CD's.. Magazine subscriptions are a good idea - a new issue every month..:)

Unfortunately I'm not much help with a 15 yr. old boy as I don't have a clue what their interests are these days..

Hope some of this helps..:santa:

If your kids want a player for the music and videos, the Sansa Fuze is a great alternative. My son has one. He loves it. :cool1: It looks a lot like the IPod classic. The screen size is similar. It is 32GB and around 60.00. :thumbsup2 Toysrus has them online for that price and I am sure you can find them elsewhere.

It is easy to load and use.

So, I would recommend the Sansa Fuze for both your son and daughter if they do not already have a MP3/Video player.

I just by my son a Walmart gift card and he buys his music off the Walmart.com site. Easy!
