I need some input... we will be at DHS on Monday Sept 27 and I have a ADR at 50's prime time (we've eaten there before) but I have a chance to get Hollywood and Vine for dinner (we've never tried them)
which would you choose and why...thanks for your help:thumbsup2

I've never eaten at 50'sPT, but I can say without hesitation that I would NEVER recommend H&V. I had a horrible experience there one time: lots of little kids running around with no parental supervision (just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you can just let your kiddies run around like monkeys) and halfway through our meal (around 7:00pm, they shut down our side of the buffet! So we had to go clear to the other side of the restaurant for food, and at that point I was so irritated with the little kid sitting next to us I had lost my appetite. I don't like to get on here and gripe about stuff, but I would definitely NOT suggest H&V to anyone.

We had a good experience at H&V. I would go there if you have not tried it. At least us, we like to sample as many of the restaurants as we can. enjoy

H&V's dinner buffet is the worst on property. I gave it a chance - we've eaten there three times - and all three times were bad.

I say H&V just for the mere fact you have not eaten there before.

Have fun!

We will never eat at H&V again, not only was the food horrid but the experience and service was terrible too

H&V scares me a little, simply because it consistently gets bad reviews. I also try to steer away from buffets. After walking the parks all day, I like to sit down & rest my poor feet!

If I had to pick out of the two I'd definetly say 50's Prime Time. However personally I'd go to Sci-Fi DIner. Our kids LOVE that place! Great food, great service and fun themeing:goodvibes

I'd say neither one. ;) In fairness, we haven't been the H&V in years and I'm not a big fan of the 50's Primetime.

It's a shame when you hear about kids running wild. Restaurants ought to tell the parents to control them.

I agree, we aren't fans of either. Try Mama Melrose's. Yum!

I have never eaten at H & V but 50's atmosphere is great. The food is good for picky eaters.

The worst meal I have ever had on Disney property was at Hollywood and Vine. Most of the food was cold. What wasn't cold tasted gross. The buffet area was a mess. Everything about the meal was terrible, except for the waitstaff.

That being said, the last time I ate there was probably a good five years ago or so. Perhaps it has gotten better since then. I'm not sure. But it was so bad that I am not willing to give it another try any time soon and therefore cannot suggest it to someone else.

So my vote is for the Prime Time Cafe. It might not be as good as it used to be, but IMO it is a lot better than Hollywood and Vine.

Out of the two choices my choice would be 50's Prime Time. We eat there on every trip because we love the atmosphere. We always have so much fun having dinner there. For us, it's sooo Disney. We have also eaten at H&V and we don't mind that either, but it's not on our list of a must do.

neither but if I had to pick on I would pick nah I can they bother are horrible:)

wow, I'm really glad I did this poll... we have done both Sci-Fi (which I liked, but my husband didn't care for) and Mama Melroses (the food was good but we had a bad experience there:sad2:) we have done 50's PT twice, the first time our server was a guy and did NOT get into the roll at all:sad2:, last time we were there was awesome, I have a picture of our 'Mom' (server) feeding my husband his last bite of food so he could have desert:lmao:

We ate at H&V for lunch on our last trip. I only considered it because of the characters and let me tell you it was awful. Loud, dirty and felt like a cheap cafeteria. Standard buffet with edible food but I sure couldn't get over the runny melted ice cream coming out of the machine and all over the floor. The whole restaurant and service were lacking serious attention. I would NEVER even think of going for dinner without the characters. We have reservations for 50's prime tiime and sci-fi (kids love the atmosphere) for this trip.

we like them both but H&V did get really bad several years ago and we had not been there for maybe 4 years and we tried it for breakfast last October 2009 and it was great. there are a lot of kids as Dora and friends were there. we had a 4 year old with us who was happy--- then we went to 50's PT for dinner and was great and the 4 year old thought was so funny the adults had to clean our plates..:dance3:
