I have a Kodak EasyShare C340. It will fit 300+ pics at 5.0 MP and about 600 at 3.1 on a 512mb SD card. I'm debating which resolution to set the camera for picture taking at WDW. Should I keep it at the high? 600 photo ops (I have two 512mb cards) seems like plenty pre-trip. Would I be disappointed if I reduced the resolution to gain more picture taking ability. I also have a 4.? resolution setting.

You have a 5MP camera, use it all up to its maximum potential. Memory cards are so cheap just buy another 1 Gb for about US$40.

Forgot to ask, how many days will you be there? I only took about 600 photos in 2 weeks, but I'm an old-school photographer who treats digital media as valuable 35mm film (think, compose, shoot) instead of shoot first edit/think/delete-later

We'll be there 8 days/7nights. I'm still in the value mode myself, in that each shot is considered, though it's so easy with digital to just point and shoot at will. I do have an additional 256mb card that I was going to use in DD's Mix Stick, but I can always reformat it later. Three cards totalling 1.28gb. :confused3 I might be okay at 5.0.

The camera was a Christmas gift and we're getting familiar with the settings. I've printed a few pics at home, but haven't had any done elsewhere. We wanted to experiment with the prints from the various megapixel settings, just haven't gotten around to it.

hey stranger.....

I agree with Kelly, I always shoot at the highest resolution.

with 4x6 prints you might not notice a difference, but you never know when you might get that shot that you want to have printed larger, the higher the resolution the better the print will be

for one week trip, you should be okay with about 300 shots if you're old-school. But to be on the safe side, just buy another 1 Gb card. They are only US$40 after all. Don't open the package and keep the receipt. If at the end of the trip you don't need it, you can return it to the store.

I want to know where everyone finds these $40 1 gig cards, I sure can't find them where I live... :confused3 :confused3

I'm old school and I average 150 pics per day at WDW...

MICKEY88:

Just as an example, the weekend Best Buy flyer has a 1-Gig PNY brand SD card for $39.99 w/no rebate required. I typically buy memory online, from newegg or zipzoomfly, but $40 for a one gig card w/no rebate hassle, would be hard to pass up, if only I could use an SD card in my Finepix!

OK, maybe the problem is I use compact flash and prefer cards form a well kmown name..such as lexar, and want fast cards as well...

Sandisk Ultra II 1 Gb CF is CAD$45, so it's about US$40.

Besides, PNY is a relatively good China brand (not made-in-china, because they all are made in China, but it's actually a Chinese company). I still have my 256 Mb CF card by PNY bought 4 years ago and still working with no problem (slow by today's standard, but works well).

checking best buy web site that card is on sale for $70.

now I did score a lexar 2 gig platinum series card 80X write speed for 89 last Friday...

Costco Canada is selling the 1 Gb at that price, the 2 Gb at CAD$90 (CF, Sandisk Ultra II).

Best Buy Canada, FutureShop, RadioShack, WalMart are the places you should avoid when buying flash cards. They are cheaper at independent stores (not online). At least that's the case in Canada.

Yesterday at WalMart, they're clearing out their Lexar SD cards 1 Gb for CAD$40. 256 Mb Lexar CF cards for $10.
