On hold with CRO right now (already had email rate, but in-laws got better email rate this week), WL woods view $137 or CR garden view $166, 2 rooms in May, 8 nights

4 adults, 2 children (5 and 3). DH, DS, and I usually stay at CR for the monorail and the distance to MK, but we had a not-so-great experience there last December. Still leaning towards CR just because of walking distance to MK, but just thought I'd see what everyone else thought since I'm sitting here on hold....

I think I would choose the WL only because the posts indicate that the CR needs refurbishing. Personally, for the cost involved I don't want to have to live with outdated rooms and halls.

We are going to the CR for our first (in years) trip to Disney. SO I can't help. What happened last year at the CR? I've been on the fence as well about the CR.

I read previous posts that said the rooms and hallways needed some help. Worn out carpeting and wallpaper. We noticed the general appearance was not up to par when we visited in June of 2004. We didn't stay there but had dinner at the California Grill and Concourse Steak House. The hotels rooms are a nice size and perhaps some are remodeled now. I would ask a few questions about it before I went.

Ok, that's the longest I've ever been on the phone with CRO. Checked my phone's timer when I hung up, 127 minutes. But I got the most helpful, most polite cast member -- porting over the package from 1 email code to another just took a while.

Decision was made for us -- WL Woods View because they actually only had CR Garden Wing king rooms available (219+ per night with the code). In laws are staying 6 nights but we are staying 8 nights so we got 1 room for 2 adults and 1 child with a room only ressie for 2 nights for $137 plus tax per night.

Then we did 6 nights MYW dining package for 2 rooms (4 adults 2 children), total of $3154.16. Breakdown is $1833.06 for the rooms (137 per night plus tax per room), $1070.40 for dining (35 per adult, 10 per child, 160 X 6 plus tax), and $250.70 for the 1 day passes (We have APs and are saving these for a future trip, I verified with CRO that if we didn't use them, they wouldn't expire since they expire 14 days after first use).

Rack rate for 6 nights WL Woods view would have been $3545.70 for the 2 rooms. I'm happy with this deal. I doubt that we'd be able to beat it even if AP rates came out. I checked my notes and AP rates for May 2004 were $139 for WL Woods view.

To those that asked about our bad experience at CR last December, we were there 9 nights and had no running hot water on 2 mornings (one was a MK EE morning!) and we got the runaround when we tried to find out what was going on. Their excuse was that it took longer for the hot water to circulate to the 10th floor, but we had run the water for over 30 minutes. We never got a gift basket delivery that was supposed to be delivered. The hotel was generally run down, the carpets needed steam cleaning and the hallway and elevator walls were quite dirty. But the MK view from the 10th floor was awesome, and having the walkway to the MK was great as always.

I guess from WL we'll just have to take the boat to CR and walk to MK if we want to make early morning PSs!
