Help me decide which resort!

I currently have reservations for 2 rooms for 7 nights at All Star Music for our group of 5. We got the Summer Quick Meal dining (1 free quick service per day) and upgraded to Quick Service dining.

I realized that we could stay in one room at PO-R with quick service dining plan for almost exactly the same price.

This seems to put us a little closer to the parks, but we lose a bathroom. However, we aren’t guaranteed connecting rooms at ASMu, but we would all know we were together at PO-R.

The last visit we stayed off property but we’re only in our rooms to sleep and shower so the fact it’s moderate or value doesn’t matter really.

What would you choose and why?

IMO, if you don't really care about the extra amenities and you're only there to sleep and use the bathroom, stick with the ASMusic. Sounds like you'll actually have a more relaxing and "luxurious" vacation if you have 2 bathrooms at your disposal.

Do you plan to spend a lot of time at Disney Springs? The boat to DS from POR is pretty awesome if you spend a lot of time out there. Otherwise, the difference in distance to the parks always seemed fairly insignificant to me comparing Mods to Values.

We didn't have connecting rooms when we stayed at ASMovies in 2011. It didn't bother us at all. We requested being in the same section and they accomodated that. Our rooms weren't more than a 2 minute walk from each other and it was perfectly easy to text each other on when to convene in the middle area. (Bonus was it was in the middle of the ASMovies refurb - one room was the old version and one room had already been updated so we got to experience both! )

I personally love the Values and didn't see much of a greater benefit in staying at POR - the DS boat being the only exception, but we only ended up using it once. Stick with two rooms and enjoy the greater space and not having to share a bathroom between 5 people. Plus, 5 people crammed in a single hotel room sounds like a bummer for 7 nights.

What is the demographic of the group (ages, genders, etc). Who would be sleeping on the Murphy Bed at POR? Of the 4 remaining can they share a bed?

The only transportation advantage at POR is the boat to DS... are you planning a lot of time at DS?

If it were me I would do the 2 rooms, and make connecting rooms my only request.

It all depends on your priorities. If an extra bathroom is the priority, then that is what you should do. POR is great... and gives you the boat to DS.

Is a 2nd bathroom a necessity? If it is keep the value. If that is not a priority I'd seriously consider POR or porfq.
Moderates have more amenities .. not just a main pool but quiet pools as well. They are generally less compacted with younger kids ( not sure on ur ages) and offer up a restaurant and great counter service. These two resorts are close enough to walk ( boat or bus) and you can pool hop! They have multiple bus stops, as well.
The boat ride to Disney springs is another Perk... great ride as an easy option for transport.
The mods are a def Upgrade and if possible, are entirely worth it to me.

For the same price, I'd stick with 2 rooms at the value. Depending on who is in your group, 5 in a moderate room can feel tight.

I am guessing that the group is two adults and three children aged 10, 8 and 7. You would all fit in the POR room easily enough assuming that the two older boys will sleep together in one bed and the 7 year old daughter will sleep in the pull down bed. Space would be cramped and you would need to organize for getting ready in the mornings. However, it could certainly work and you would be guaranteed to be all together in one room.

OTOH In addition to the extra bathroom at ASMu, you would have extra space to spread out and 4 real beds. That would mean sharing by only two, but those two would be in a full bed, not a queen.

Since sleep and showering are your main requirements, which set up would be the most comfortable for everyone? You know your own family best.

FWIW For our family, staying in one room was easy. Two showered at night and two in the morning. The morning birds jumped up to get ready in the morning and crashed first at night, The night owls dallied getting to bed in the evening, but laid abed until after we finished in the am. Everyone just took a turn. Obviously, we always went with the one room option - cheaper and we wanted to be assured of being together.

Either option can work, so I would base my decision on which fit our nighttime and bathroom habits the best.

I would stick with the 2 rooms. An extra bathroom is always a plus in my book. Or have you considered a family suite at the Music?

It will be my ex-husband along with our kids (11 and 9 year old boys and 7 year old daughter). We don't mind sharing a room but I think I decided to stick with the two rooms just to have a little more space (and that extra bathroom!). Easier transportation to the parks is the only reason I would have to switch at this point. (I might reevaluate if there is another promotion later!) Thanks all!
