I am an educator so our visit times are limited. We had planned on visiting 2014 during our April vacation, however this year it coincides with Easter. Our only other option would be mid July. I really was looking forward to a vacation in the middle of the school year, but am very worried about the crowds. Which time of year would you suggest??

Summer is doable if you plan for early mornings, break/nap/swim at the resort during the hottest part of the day, and then back to the parks for late evening.

Been where you are, now retired so I have more options. I'd choose April. The crowds are crazy at both times but the weather is so much better in April. July is brutal and so is August. There is usually much less humidity in April. We've been many times at Easter, just try not to push to get too much done and you wont be disappointed. Planning is key.

I would strongly recommend April. With Easter so late this year, the spring break crowds will be spread out so, while the parks will be crowded, they should not be anything close to the Christmas crowds. The mid-summer crowds may not be any better than April.

To me, the clincher is the weather. Mid April might be hot, but mid-July will absolutely be stiflingly hot and humid to the point that even sitting around a swimming pool (with water as refreshing as a warm bath) is not that comfortable. Unless you have the stamina for that kind of weather, you will enjoy yourself a lot more in April. Since you expressed a preference for a mid school year break, I would recommend that. Do a little planning and get to the parks early and you should have a wonderful time. We have done that several times because of having family members tied to school schedules, and March-April is my favorite time to visit WDW. If you think you will enjoy Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival, that is another reason to choose spring.

Our break is the week after Easter and we'll be there! I've done WDW in the summer many times when I was younger and before I had my son and I will never do it again if I can help it.

I agree with this

It may be just us, but summer never bothers us. It can be 90+ with terrible humidity here in Indiana! I'd rather be at WDW! We have gone April, May, June, July, and August. The April we were there is it was 85-92 everyday. We have never pulled kids out of school for WDW, so now we summer or Christmas people.

I would do April , both times will be crowded and would be willing to deal with crowds to avoid the brutal heat and humidity.

We're in a similar situation. We went the week after Easter last year and it wasn't nearly as bad as we expected. We used easywdw for the suggested parks each day and went in with reasonable expectations. We found that most visitors preferred to stay out late and sleep in so morning crowds were easily managed. We enjoyed it so much, we're going back this Easter.

April. It is crowded, but we found that staying on property and using EMH helped up achieve most of what we wanted to do. There were a couple nights that the MK was open to 1-2am and you could walk on rides with little to no wait.

April. The weather is really, really nice. I went last year during spring break and honestly, it wasn't that bad. I went with a school group so we never did EMH, never did park close, etc, and it was a really fun trip. I didn't think it was overly "crowded" or anything like that. I'd rather wait in a 70 minute line with a breeze on my back than in a 70 minute line with sweat on my back.

I love going in July. We're doing it again this summer over July 4th week. But we're from Texas where it likes to hit 100+ daily that time of year so 90's in Orlando is downright temperate to us. And rain! We hardly see rain in July and it's actually a nice treat that time of year.

It doesn't matter when you go. Either time will be awesome with the right attitude.

We've been many times but took out first July trip this year. It was the week of the 4th so, as we expected, it was very crowded. What we didn't expect were large tour groups. Just getting fp was a long wait because some of the sponsors would be getting fp for the entire group(s). Do a search on Brazilian tour groups for more info.

Anyway, I vote for April. We usually go for Spring Break and the crowds aren't anywhere near as large as the summer.
