Help me decide what to do

We are currently booked to check in on Fri. Sept 4. The flight I was considering gets us to the airport about 4:30 pm. There is another flight that gets us in at about 11:30 pm for about $40 less per ticket. The money we save by taking the later flight would be enough to book an extra night so rather than check in on Friday we could check in on Thursday night.

Obviously the extra Disney day is the no brainer.

My questions is more around the tickets and the dining plan.

If the first time we use the tickets is on Fri. 4 we would have until midnight on the 17th before they expired right? ( I think I have that calculated correctly)

Would my dinning plan be the same since we'll technically be checking in after midnight on the 4th? Would I have until midnight on the 17th or would my dining plan expire on the 16th since my reservation starts on the 3rd?

I ask because we won't be checking out until the 19th. (We'll be booking a separate reservation for the additional 2 nights with a room only reservation) So I'm prepared to pay out of pocket for a few meals, but not sure how many days to plan for. I also want to make sure we can still get into the parks on the 17th as that's my daughter's birthday.

Don't do the dining plan

Dining credits expire at midnight on the day you check out.

I thought I would still be okay on the 17th since that will be the check out date of our first reservation, but I feel better having some confirmation.

You do realize that you have to pay for an extra day dining right? That is unless you are doing a room only the first night and then starting the package on day 2.

Dining plan is tied to check in/ check out dates. If your check in date is the 3rd and check out is the 17th your dining credits will be available to you from the 3rd until midnight of the 17th. Doesn't matter when you actually physically check in nor when you begin to use them. There is no 14 day expiration date as with tickets. If I read your dates correctly, you will NOT have credits for the 18th or the 19th.

Is this correct:

A person with a resort stay of 6 nights with the dining plan would have 6 days worth of credits but 7 days over which to use them?

Yes. We always saved our last CS credits to take lunch to the airport. We eat on benches just outside of security & sneak into the stores for one last Disney fix!! Earl of Sandwich - YUM!!!

Yes. We often will purposely arrive in the evening and not use any dining credits that night, so that we have extra ones to use throughout the course of our stay.
