I was very blessed to receive one of the PIN postcards for 40% off. We booked a reservation at the GF for 1435.00 for 5 nights (we already have tickets). But we can stay at the Poly for $200.00 less. Well I booked the GF because quite frankly I never dreamed I would ever go here and my kids aways ooohh and aaahh over it when we go to Park Fare. BUT I also noticed that GF doesn't look that family friendly. And by this I mean, more of a "my kinda family" friendly. We absolutely love the moderates food courts and I love being able to take my Mug and get some hot tea or hot chocolate at night when I return. So I was thinking the POLY would be a better fit for us.

Can anyone tell me if there are refillable mugs at the GF and if so, where would you fill them up.

Also does the Poly have a "food court" type of place to get my own self serve drinks.

AND YES I know it is crazy to not want to stay at the GF because of a refillable mug.

Maybe we should consider a split stay!

Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes, there are refillable mugs at GF. For sale at Gasparilla Grill and Games (GF's CS dining)

I believe they are also refillable at Summerhouse- the pool bar.

Don't worry- GF is very family friendly. If your kids are under 10 years old,
look into the Pirate Adventure.

I think the Poly is more kid friendly by far. They have newly refurbished food court Cooks Corner. Your kids will love the volcano themed pool!:thumbsup2

We stayed at the GF in the main building last Nov with our DDs ages 5 and 2.5. The whole resort was very family friendly and beautiful! We loved it. Gasparilla grill and games is open 24 hrs, and has snacks, games, very loud and looks out over the MK/castle. I would definitely stay at the GF especially for such a great rate! Also, when we went it was a little bit cooler (Nov) but we visited the Poly and there were tons of people at the pool...GF was so relaxed, we the pool almost to ourselves. Have a great trip!

Both GF and the Poly are kid friendly. My kids started going to the GF when they were 2, 4 and 5 and we never felt out of place. We were going through the same back and forth for our July trip. Love GF but just had a great stay at the Poly in January. We picked GF but watching to see if AP rates come out if they make a difference.

If you've always wanted to stay at the GF do it now with the 40% code. You couldn't pick a better time!

Both resorts are fantastic in their own right. It really comes down to preference over theming. I would take a good look at the photos on the various Disney related websites and choose which resort seems more aesthetically pleasing to you. I don't believe either one is greatly superior to the other in amenities.

If you want to stay at GF stay there, $200 is not a big difference and the 40% off is a really good deal better than free dining. It's unheard of. They have a nice foood court there as well as Refillable mugs, I think they 2 to choose from, one has Alice in Wonderland. GF is also kid friendly after all it is Disney and it's and MK resort.:goodvibes MY DD really wants to stay there but we upgraded our resort this stay too because of the discount as it is.

Thank you for your responses! I looked at the difference again and it is only a difference of 135.00! I would be nuts not to choose GF right? My hold up is just that those pictures on the web of the rooms are quite frankly "unappealing" to me. I love the theme of the Boardwalk/Beach Club rooms, so the Victorian thing doesn't do it for me. I lOVE the new refurbished rooms at the Poly, but the resort theme itself is kinda yuck! Oh I can't believe I am having this hard a time. I told my DH I was going to price out a split stay. Maybe we can add and extra night! Thanks again!

I would go with the Poly. It has a better theme and better food

I really LOVED the new rooms at the Poly. Also, if you enjoy Epcot, I really like that you can walk from TTC directly to Poly from the monorail. You would have to change to the resort monorail at TTC to get to GF-well you can walk from Poly to GF but the walk to GF from TTC is a bit long.

I haven't stayed at GF but I'm sure it is lovely too and I really don't think you could go wrong with either resort.

I vote GF because it's our all time favorite - and we have done them all.:goodvibes

GF is very family friendly. I have 3 kids and they all enjoy everything about the place. The CMs are super to the kids. Gasparillas is open 24 hours and is very nice & clean and large with outside tables, also - and those have a nice castle view, so it's a great place to watch Wishes in the eve. The GF pool is not crowded as I have often found the Poly pool to be. There are actually two - a free form garden pool and a waterslide/waterfall pool with zero depth entry. I don't know what to say about you not liking the look of the rooms....I prefer GF's light, floral airiness over Poly's dark color scheme and dark prints and carpet.

Both are nice resorts, but given a choice, I would always choose GF over Poly.

You are getting a steal of a deal, so go for it and enjoy!

DArn you had to remind me about the crowded Poly pool:sad2: . I wish they would get Wristbands. Now I'm thinkng of maybe checking GF for our October stay, if DH wants to spend even more :rolleyes1 .

You Don't have to be sorry, that is the only thing I found aggravating at Poly but we could never find chairs at the pool and some people were not even reosrt guests but that a whole other topic.:)
