I liked Lorelei and Paige the best. Isabella, 9 times out of 10 becomes Izzy once they get a few years into school, whether you want it or not.

Jackie

I chose Annabelle (although I would use the Annabel spelling.) Our tablemates at dinner on our Disney cruise in May had a daughter named Annabel, and she was adorable. I have loved the name since! Also has cute nicknames - Belle, Annie, Anna...

I also love Amelia.

It is hard to chose a first name without knowing the surname though.

I picked Isabella! I love that name!
Lorelai -- Please don'y name your daughter after the GG! I too love that show, but I don't think it's a good idea long term.
Anabelle -- It reminds me of the Edgar Allen Poe poem.
Amelia -- She will be called Amelia Bedelia (sp?)
Gwyneth -- Too trendy

Paige is my second choice out of those names. :)

JMHO! :) I'm sure any name will be great for your baby girl!

I also like the names Olivia, Audrey, Grace and Ava.

I love Isabella too, but DH doesnt like the nickname Belle or Bella.

You know, I really like the name Lorelei apart from the show, and its a really old name. It did give me pause that the show has great popularity now and that could be a problem, but I also figure that as good as the show is, it probably will reach the end of its run long before my daughter would know the show.....what do you think? DH's only hesitation is that he thinks people will call her Lori, which is not a nickname we prefer.

Gwenyth was instead of Gwendolyn, which DH hates, and still gets me the nickname Gwen!

Well I would HAVE to go with Isabella - It's my dd's name! Everyone loves her name, and I think it's just so classy and elegant, but recently it's become popular so it may not be so original anymore. My sisters name is Lindsay and that's also nice.

I hear ya, and (no disrespect to anyone who has this nickname) but Izzy makes me think of an eccentric old lady with a big crazy purse! (okay, maybe I have a real live personal visual in mind!) :rotfl2:

I love Isabella... I would have named my DD that if we had a different last name.

What about Isabella Ruth?

For my kids my DH and I picked the name that we like for the first name and then picked a family name for the middle name.

ETA: I just saw the middle name Grace on your list.... love that my middle daughter is Kelsey Grace, and I kind of wished I would have named her Grace it just fits her personality.

Well ... I'm the only one to vote for the "traditional" name Margaret, LOL! I also like the name Amelia, but most of the names are too "popular" and "trendy" for my tastes. FWIW, I knew a woman named Loreli back in the late 70's.

I need you all to know that I have not really been very helpful to my DH in picking names. He sat one night and shot names out at me and I proceeded to name off wierdo nickname, or coke addicted celeb, etc with the name and pretty much ruined every name in the book! HAHA!!!

I voted for Gwyneth because that is my daughter's middle name and I love that name.

I love it cause its DH grandmother and I like the nickname Maggie - but my concern is that there are too many other "MaDDie's" around from Madisons and Madelyns that it would make Margaret seem trendy

There are 3 Isabelle/Isabellas on my daughter's swim team (kids from 6-8 years old) and one goes by "Belle" and the other two by "Bella". Not a single "Izzy".

I voted Paige....maybe elizabeth for a middle name??? I love the name Hailey, but DH wanted Elizabeth. I hate that as a first name, but we call her Lizzy for short.

At first we were going to name her Rebecca, but our last name is Sulecki, and we didn't want her being called Becky Sulecki... :crazy2:

Yeah Paige Elizabeth I like it...Lindsay Paige sounds kinda cute too.

I like

Annabelle Marie
Isabella Grace

I guess I do not like many of the other names mentioned... Margaret or Lorelei. I hear 'Marge' or 'Lori'

I actually like the name, or nickname, Belle! It means 'beautiful'. And, needless to say, I love the character Belle from Beauty and the Beast!

I know exactly what you mean - IMO, so many of today's trendy names sound little-girlish. When I was picking names for my girls (Julia & Katherine), I tried to imagine the name on a 70 year old woman, and would it still fit as they age? No offense to anyone, but I just can't imagine the name Tiffany, for example, on an older woman! But, I do think that all of the names the OP listed are actually what I would consider fairly "old fashioned" names, which are the kind of names I like.

As far as middle names to go with Paige, I'd probably go with something at least 2 syllables, to balance out the short first name. Paige Katherine, Paige Elisabeth, or how about Paige Isabella (combining two of the names from your list)?

My test is: "Does President Firstname Lastname sound good?" That goes for both boys and girls. Although I have to admit that the name "Condoleezza" hasn't seemed to slow Dr. Rice down too much!

I picked Amelia, but I liked all the names (except for Ruth).

We do a similar test, kinda in reverse. If it sounds like she should be a stripper, its not a good name for our daughter! :rotfl: I mean, a name isnt the only thing that makes you successful, but you dont want her to have to add that to her list of things to overcome as she rises to the top!
