We need a new compact camera and are going to keep in under $150. I have wanted a waterproof one for a while, so I am going to go ahead and get one. These two are both in budget and look to be the best options. The Oly is $20 more, but has true optical IS(sensor shift) which might be really helpful underwater. :confused3 The Fuji has a little more zoom, but I don't think that is going to matter much considering how I am going to use it. BTW, that is for pool pics, beach pics, water rides, and just general when I don't want to carry the DSLR.

Any personal experience with these?

What kinda of cards do they use, I remember Oly used to always use XD stuff... Not sure if that is still the case.

If you are willing to consider USED... Buydig has the Oly tough 6000 for under $100 refurbed.
And they have the Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 refurbed for $140

Seems that the 6020 is waterproof upto 16 feet deep whereas the 3000 and 6000 only go 10feet deep.

I have thought about a refurb. I don't think I would go full used on a p&s though. The xD thing is what is keeping me from the 6000 and 8000. They abandoned it on the 3000, which is actually a generation newer. I believe the 6020 is dual xD/SD.

I made my decision and went with the Olympus. I got the blue one from Buydig for $129. I went with it over the cheaper Fuji for a couple reasons. One, the true IS. Another big thing was the focal range. The Fuji started at 35mm and the Oly is 28mm. I shoot a lot wide and that would probably have frustrated me. I did consider some refurbs, but the best deals were the ones that used xD memory and that was a deal breaker for me. Lastly, it is blue (GO BIG BLUE - SEC champs yet again :thumbsup2) My wife gives me grief over my red K-x since she is a Louisville Cards fan, so now I can have a blue camera to go along with it.

I also just picked up a Pentax DA 35mm f/2.4. I am really excited about getting a hold of it! Most customer reviewers say that it is incredible, especially for the price. I think it is going to be my goto indoor lens with my 50mm f/1.4 reserved for really low light. Since the ISO 6400 on the K-x is usable, this 35mm might even do decent on dark rides. I have to wait until November for that testing though :sad1: since we let our APs expire recently and are not buying again until then.

Very cool...gotta love a good useful prime. I'm gonna be getting my Canon 24mm F1.4L II tomorrow. I think that focal length on crop will be perfect for dark rides(35mm equivalent)
