Help me decide--I'm waffling. . .Poly or WL???

We love the Poly but with no AP rates out for Sept. yet it just seems so expensive. We went last time in December and got a great rate and had a great time (but it was too cold to swim). I have a DD 4 and DS 2 and most of our time will be at MK. We are also planning on doing HDDR and Mickey's Back yard BB this time so the convenience to FW at WL would be nice. But my husband gets so caught up on room views (even though we are barely ever in the room) and that makes me worry about WL. Also, I have heard varying reports on the boat service to MK from WL. The boat service from Poly was wonderful. . . We are planning on staying 8 nights so money difference really adds up.

I am running out of time to decide. Can any of you offer your two cents--I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

that is a tough one, they are both so nice!
I liked both and probably would stay at the POLY if I had a choice.
IT is like staying in Hawaii.

good luck deciding.

I would vote for the Polynesian - just for the ease of access to the MK (and not to mention it is my favorite :earsboy: ) either way I am sure you will have a wonderful trip !

I love the Poly, but can't afford to stay there every trip. It sounds like cost is a deciding factor for you. I think WL would be a nice alternative. You can book WL, and then if AP rates come out you can switch. Or you can book Poly and then switch if AP rates don't come out. I'm not sure which is resort would sell out first. I suspect it would be the Poly. I haven't stayed at WL, so I can't address the transportation question. You might want to search some previous posts or post a question about it.

We have stayed at both resorts and each has its merits, especially with kids. We did not have major transportation issues with WL boats to/from MK but others here have said the wait can be substantial. We had courtyard view at WL and it was very nice; the pool is okay but rather small, IMO. I love the theming at WL and you can ask for a room with queen bed and bunk beds...our kids loved that and it seemed to give us alittle more room to move about (WL rooms are smaller than the norm for deluxe resort). Proximity to HDDR and the BBQ would be better at WL tho not that impossible to navigate from the Poly. If price is a real issue, I think WL would more than meet your needs and expectations. That being said, if you are willing to hold out for AP rates (or make 2 reservations, one for WL and one for Poly), I would go with the Polynesian. We just returned from a 10 day trip there. The room size is awesome, the garden view relaxing and the lagoon view incredible. The volcano pool and beach was wonderful for the kids and access to both the monorail and resort ferry to MK was tremendous (even at park closing, the waits were tolerable and we were back in our room fairly quickly). Watching the ELP and Wishes from the beach, or balcony if you have lagoon view, is indescribable (my favorite memory from our stay). I would never bankrupt myself to stay at a resort.....but with a decent discount code or AP rate, I vote the Poly for your stay :D

With two little ones I'd say Poly because of the monorail but if you plan to use the boat alot then why not WL (less $$). And since Sept shouldn't be too crowded you won't have that much in the way of waits for transportation anyway. But maybe the pool will help you decide -- the Poly pool is zero entry (the WL pool is not) so that really makes it nice for younger kids. But if your 4 yr old likes water slides she would probably prefer the WL slide which is tamer than the one at Poly (too dark, too scary!) -- and Sept will be warm so you'll get plenty of pool time.
Poly or WL is a hard decision -- good luck!

My family loves both hotels! If you are staying 8 nights, I would split my stay and hope for some good rates during the time you would be there!

Thank you for all the great advice! Not having stayed at WL it is hard to know whether the Poly is worth the extra money. All your replies have been helpful.

POLY!

No doubt.

We've stayed at both and prefer the Poly much much much more. The transporation is one reason - and it's a biggie. WL transportation literally got on my nerves...SLOW. Rooms are tiny - Poly rooms are big. The CMs at the Poly, in our experience, were much better. I can't think of one thing we liked at WL better than Poly.

Thanks PamNC. I think I will book a Poly garden view room and hope for an Annual Passholder rate and possible upgrade. I just needed to hear that there was a reason that the WL is cheaper because I hate to spend extra money without cause.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I think I'd lean towards the Poly like everyone else, BUT
WL is great too - just different.

At WL you still can have great views (I loved it) - the courtyard views are fabulous! There is a beach - all be it small - and the EWP comes there too - of course you get the best views of it by walking down to the boat docks. And totally different atmosphere, I'd think. We thought transportation was ok - not great but ok there as well.

Although all that being said WL is our favorite resort but we are trying Poly for the first time on our next trip for all the reasons everyone else stated. But if it comes down to money - I'd be perfectly happy at the WL too.

Maybe split your stay between the two. That way you won't have the expense the whole 8 nights.

Have fun! We'll be there in September.
