Hey everyone,

Can anyone weigh in on whether we should go to Kennedy Space Center the day we leave Vero? We are doing WDW, then 2 nights at Vero, and our flight doesn't leave MCO until 5:50 pm...trying to decide if it is worth the money to go to Kennedy Space Center.

We are all interested in space (kids loved Space Camp and Apollo 13)...but $45 per person...YIKES!

Thoughts??

We rented a car and went to Kennedy Space Center 2 years ago. If you are looking for a place to learn so history then yes spend the money and go, but if your kids are looking for rides not the place to be. My 6 year old was to short to do the Rocket ship simulator (which is less of a "ride" then Star tours). We spent like 4 hours there and were done and ready to go back to WDW. Good history lesson for adults, but really not fun for kids. Food is seriously expensive there also...just to let you know.

We went to Kennedy this past December and LOVED it. My son, who was four at the time, enjoyed it as well. True, there are no rides, but the 3D movie was enjoyable and my son really liked seeing the inside of a real rocket. We spent a little over a half day there and felt like it was well worth the admission price.

I went last year with a 6 and 4 yr old and we were done in a few hours. They weren't overly interested. Contact your local Congressman. You might be able to get 4 free tickets through them. That's what we did so I wasn't too upset that the kids didn't find it very exciting.

Thanks for all of the feedback, everyone. Thanks especially for the idea of contacting my Congressman...I had no idea that was even a possible avenue for tickets.

I don't hold much hope since it's so late in the year, but I sent off an e-mail. :) It can't hurt to try!

I think if we were able to obtain free tickets, we would definitely go. It would be an interesting thing to see, given that the space program has been in the news quite a lot lately.

Since all of you are interested in space (and loved Space Camp and Apollo 13), I'd recommend going. I'm probably a lot like you guys - very interested in space, grew up watching Space Camp and Apollo 13 is one of my favorite movies. I've been to Kennedy Space Center twice and the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville twice. As others said, there's no rides, etc, but as a space geek, I've always enjoyed going to these places.

We did it after our cruise this past may. I got tickets from our local congressman like a previous poster mentioned. For free it was great but with 5 & 8 year old kids I was happy we didn't have to pay. Really move on that with your congressman and you might have to teach them about it. Many have no clue. Good luck and have fun!
