Help me decide... DS (6) only wants Dora's Talking House for Christmas!!!

I agree that you should buy it. My DS has just turned 3 and loves Dora to bits. In the age of innocence he sees nothing wrong with watching Dora or playing with his Dora lego.

If you ask him if he wants a Barbie or a baby doll on the other hand he looks horrified and says that it is for girls.

Go for it he will love you.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I did have to put my foot down when he wanted a dora dress- hope I'm not to mean.

:rotfl2: I'd have to draw the line there too as well....

Ok, I guess I am a bad mommy. Looking for shoes for my DS3 yesterday when he sees pink Dora shoes. Him - I want these shoes. Me- They are girl shoes. Him- but I like Dora. Me- But honey, they are pink. Him-But mommy, I love pink. Me- I am sorry, they don't have your size. Ok, this was a lie, but I just could not bring myself to buy him pink shoes to wear to school! I do let him wear his sister's old Dora snow boots. They are light blue, not so bad. I wish they would make more Deigo stuff.

Thats why slippers was allowed,
(they stay at home) The way we got out of the dora dress was they don't have your size. I'm a terrible dad I guess

Aww. I think it's cute he wants the Dora house. I remember my little guy playing with all of his sisters dolls, etc. when he was liitle. He used to even put on her dress up play high heel shoes and cinderella gowns. DH & I had our moments of concern, LOL. Now he's a normal, rough & tumble 8 y/o boy. I'd say go for it!

Another vote to buy it! I have a six-year-old DS too, and he would probably love that too. He just hasn't seen it! :rotfl: If you want to find some other role playing toys that are more gender neutral, try Ryan's Room stuff. It's all wooden set ups like houses, castles, tree houses, etc. (toy sized, not real life sized). My boys love that stuff. But either way, make sure the Dora house is under the tree! He won't be this young for long, and soon he'll be saying he only wants the macho boy stuff, lol!

You know what? We are all great parents! We care, we love, we tell little white lies to avoid embarrassing situations.... can we get any better than that? :grouphug:

My DS 2 loves Dora too. He is typically "all boy." It's all about trucks, balls, trains, etc and Dora. Well, it's potty training time. He absolutely refused to wear the pull up (Elmo) that I had bought him. He wouldn't even try it on. I kept looking at the Dora ones and I have no problem with Dora and little boys but they were just so pink and frilly. I decided it doesn't really matter and sure enough he's happy to use them. They've really helped, "Don't pee on Dora!" My husband is usually very accepting but I hesitated to tell him about the pink pull-ups. (He's deployed so he didn't have to be told.) DH was very supportive. "I don't care if he wears lipstick if it gets him potty-trained."

But it is funny to see him running around the house in his flannel shirts and Dora pull-ups!

Been there done that..

my DS now 4 would only wear Dora Pull-ups. His dad was horrified at the time, but he didn't like the spiderman ones...
In fact the previous poster reminded me about the Dora Pull ups I had completly forgotten...
It just makes me smile to see such innocence. They won't stay little for long. My dd will be 1 in two weeks. Time did fly..

Oh by the way.. Buy the house!!!!!!!!!!!! One gift he will never forget. I'd also print out a copy of this thread to give to him in the future, for when his son asks for the barbie dream house one day.. :)

Rapunsel, what a GREAT idea. I'm printing it and throwing it into his memory book. It's amazing, the men in my family are HORRIFIED :earseek: , even my co-workers husband. They are all, "can't you buy him a race track or GI Joes?"

I know a few men responded to this and were supportive as well. I'm so excited for him to open his Dora house from Santa, along with "The Thing's Clobbering Hands" and Darth Vaders Talking Mask. He's all boy, that likes creative play. He wouldn't have a clue (Thank God) what a GI Joe is and I'd prefer to keep it that way for a while. :earboy2:
