Help me decide Cypress Pointe or Summer Bay Resort?

I cannot decide what to do. Cypress Point has a 3b/3b unit but is not available for the first day I arrive, so I would need to find a hotel for one night. It wouldn't be that bad since our flight doesn't get into Sanford Airport till 850pm. Or I can stay at Summer Bay Resort in a 2b2b unit which is available for the 1st night I arrive but will cost me more. Which resort is nicer? Also what is the difference, quality wise, between Cypress Pointe and Cypress Pointe Grandvillas? Also, if you think I should go with Cypress Pointe can you recommed a hotel near Sanford Airport. There are 4 adults and 2 kids. (2) of the adults are in there late 60's. Thanks for any input.

If it matters, Cypress Point is a whole lot closer to WDW that Summer Bay. It is also between Sanford and Orlando. Summber Bay is on the southwest side of WDw near the intersection of Hwy 192 and 27.

Personally, I'd pick CP. You'll do a lot less driving.

Sorry I can't answer any more of your questions because I am out the door headed to Disney right now!!! :Pinkbounc :earsgirl:

We loved CPGV when we stayed there. I can't think of too many places I'd rather be, including the Vistana Resort. Haven't stayed at Summer Bay -- it looks nice though. Still, I have such fond memories of our CPGV trip last year.

I have never stayed at either one of them but I do know where they both are & have been on the grounds of both of them. Summer Bay is much nicer but and a big but it the location. I would rather stay at Cypress Point.... much closer to everything!

are there any other opinions about these two resorts? we have the choice of a 2BR at the CP grandvillas or at Summer Bay (not the villas)....we are mainly looking at the resorts themselves, the water areas, especially. Most of our time will be at the resort rather than the parks this trip. Any and all info, including pictures, is most appreciated!

Cypress Pointe is closer to Disney but is a smaller resort.

There are 3 pools, one of which has a volcano and slides. Nice big units too.

You can see pics at www.cypresspointe.net

Summer Bay has a lake with some play things in the water. They also have multiple pools, one of which is an interactive squirts type thing for little ones.

It is also further from the parks on the outer edges of the area.

Pics of Summer Bay are at www.summerbayresort.com I think!

Both are a good choice.

I can only speak of Cypress Pointe GrandVillas. We loved them. Enjoyed the pool areas. One note that was important with my parents was that only the Grand Villas side had elevators. Here are some pictures from our trip in June.

I have a friend who stayed at Summer Bay (they own in Fairfield). She said it was very nice and this lady's home is as pristine as homes get. If she thinks it's nice, it is! Never been to the other one but it sounds like a lot of people loved it too. Hope this helps.

thanks for the pictures and comments :) I have a quick question--what are the charges for the jet-skis and other activities?

If you stay in CP, the elevators would be helpful for the older adults in the Grand villas. Our whole family loved Cypress Pointe, from the oldest to the youngest!

thanks for the pictures, Sammi! they are great!

I have added another resort to the mix  I can get a 3 BR at Silver Lake (in the Silver Points section)...it is as big as my house, LOL!

so now I am looking at:
Summer Bay--it has some HORRIBLE reviews on tripadvisor, mostly tied to a timeshare deal or something....but a few of the reviews of the units are awful

cypress pointe grandvillas--very impressed...leaning towards it or

silver lake--we have friends that own there and give it rave reviews!

do any or all of these properties have a picnic area with grills and such?

Glad you like them madge!:D

CPGV does have BBQ grills and picnic tables for you if you'd like a change of pace from the restaurants.:sunny:

One other question, Cindy....

the unit we have on hold at CPGV is a 2 BR (sleeps 6). Is that a good sized unit? we are a family of 5....2 parents, 3 kids (14, 9, and 2)

thanks!

There should be no problems as we've slept 6 adults in the 2 bedroom and we didn't get in each others way during the waking times.:D

We've had 2 adults in the king size bed in the master bedroom and 2 adults on the queen size pull out couch and then DH and I had the 2nd bedroom(which has 2 twin beds). You should have plenty of room!:sunny:
