Help me decide! BWV or VWL?

We are in the midst of planning our next Disney trip! All along we've said we'll stay at BWV because we love the resort and the location. However, I've always been interested in VWL too.

Here's the deal: We travel in early December when park hours are shorter. Epcot is usually open latest; and we tend to go there almost every night of our trip. It is really convenient to just be able to walk "home" after Illuminations instead of doing the mass exodus through the front of the park with the hordes of other people!;) Also, sometimes we leave one park, head back to our resort for dinner, then walk over to Epcot in the evenings. Very easy!

As much as I love the area, I would hate to think I'm missing out on another great resort just because I'm too lazy to fight the crowds at park closing.:o

How great is VWL? What kind of stuff is there to do at night (after park close) around there? By next December our family will consist of myself, dh, ds (5 1/2 at trip time) and new baby (6 mos. at trip time!)

Thanks for any info and help!-Danaprincess:

we almost always stayed at the boardwalk because of the reasons you mentioned. Nothing beats the relaxing walk back from illuminations or Fantasmic. We stayed at vwl a couple years ago, and although we really enjoyed the atmosphere, we were a little bored in the evening and haven't booked there again. Not that I wouldn't in a pinch, but location wise, it would not be my first choice. Good luck.

Last September I booked first part of my stay at VWL and did MK, then we move to BWV and enjoyed MGM and EPCOT I would have been happy to stay at VWL but my sister wanted to stay at BWV we really enjoyed both the Resorts and loved BWV so much that I'm going to try and add-on to my DVC Membership at BWV. Then I'll have the best of both.

After the MK we where tired but managed to see EWP every night we where at the Lodge, also enjoyed the pool...no it doesn't have all the action that the Boardwalk has far from it.

I am also an owner at the BWV, so I am a little partial. The rooms will be exactly the same at both resorts, except for the decor. Another words the layout is exactly alike but decorations different. There are many people as passionate about the WLV as the BWV. It just depends on your tastes and what you are wanting to do. I love the location of the BWV. Our favorite park is Epcot so being able to walk or take a boat back and forth is great. There is also lots to do on the Boardwalk, itself.

I think if you have not been to VWL it is worth a try. Especially in december, it is very well decorated. I am also a BWV owner and I love it there. We tried VWL in April and have no desire to return any time soon - but we definately enjoyed it while we were there.

Thanks for everyone's help. I think that for now we'll stick with the original plan of BWV. The location really just can't be beat. Plus, since we'll be traveling with 2 strollers this time (no way ds can hold out to walk through the parks!) it will be nice to have 2 parks that we can walk to and from.

I still think VWL would be nice on a future trip; but for now I think we'll stick with the most convenient location for us.:D

Thanks again!
