It's beginning to look like we just might be able to take a vacation together to WDW for the first time (I usually go with DSis). Dh thinks that the week between Christmas and New Years is the best time to go because he's off then every year. I'm trying to convince him that it's waaaay to busy. He's not a big crowds kinda guy. He gets irritated with them. I'd rather go sometime in September. How do I convince him that week is a bad idea? He keeps saying everyone will be home for the holidays and not at WDW. If he only knew....

I'm with Pop Daddy!!! Go and have a magical time! If it is busy, use fast pass, or visit the resorts...

Have a wonderful vacation!

Actually I should clarify, this is next year we are talking about. So September would get us there quicker and it's not like he doesn't have enough vacation time to cover it then.

we still dont feel your pain, go :)

Oh you're just on his side because it's in the male code that you have to be :rotfl:

and I will also be there that week, so waite it out

The crowds will be lighter in Sept, but it will be very hot and humid!!! (I'm from MN, so the heat might not affect you as much as it affected me)! I've been to WDW during both times that you are considering, and I preferred Jan to Sept.

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

I'm with you, Shugardrawers! I would not enjoy WDW if it was packed with people. No fun at all, to me. I'd much rather go at a less busy time, if I had a choice.

ETA.... Could you go the first week or two of October? That's when my family were there this year and 3 yrs ago. It's a GREAT time to go! Longest we waited for anything was 35 mins for Space Mountain. 1st week of December is good too. Everything is decorated for Christmas. It's beautiful!

Yes, first couple weeks of October is also a time we are considering. I went a couple years ago just after Labor Day and it was DEAD. We had a blast. I'm open to any time that isn't packed as I'm not a big crowd person either.

I would highly recommend trying to get a copy of the "Unofficial Guide to WDW" either from the library, a bookstore, or try their website for their no holds barred view of touring the week between Christmas and New Year's.

From the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2004
Part One: Planning Before You Leave Home
When to Go to Walt Disney World

pg. 32
"Walt Disney World is busiest Christmas Day through New Year's Day."

pg. 41
Summer and Holidays
"And even the crowds of midsummer pale in comparison to the vast hordes (italics and bold mine) that invade during holiday periods."

If you have a choice, and DH is not a crowd kind of person...by all means I would say to go late September/early October.
