Well the good news is that we are finally getting to go back to Disney - its been 4 years since our last trip!!!
The bad news is that my son is now in 6th grade and I don't feel that I can pull him out of school any longer for vacations. He would just miss too much and I am not smart enough to help him understand the material (especially math:confused3)
That means we can only go during his spring break or when school lets out. Neither I know is a great time to go to Disney, crowd wise. So I guess I am hoping that you guys can help me pick the lesser of the two evils. Usually we go in October or Feb and we have loved it:cool1:
The two possible weeks would be:
• March 15-22
• May 24-31
Thanks for the input!

Since Easter is later this year (April 20, I think) and most FL universities spring break is March 3-8, I think either one is good, IMHO. It's probably a toss up between the two. I'd pick March over May just because of the weather being cooler in March than in May. :thumbsup2

Hi, we're in the same situation with a 6th grader and 3rd grader looking at the same weeks. The touring plans crowd calendar is about the same for either week, except Memorial Day weekend. We are probably going to do May because of Star Wars weekends, and my 3rd grade son is a huge fan. We can also stay longer if we go after they get out of school. In the past we have always gone in the Fall, but they no longer get a Fall Break.

We were there just this year in Mid March and we had a blast! We really had a great time!

I would higly suggest the dates in March.

March for the wonderful weather. I love going for spring break. Summer is way too hot and humid.

Pick May if your son loves Star Wars. Those dates will be smack in the middle of SW Weekends. We went this year & it is a great time, but there are lots of people. It is really hit or miss at the DHS though with the crowds. One weekend it really wasn't bad at all, easy to walk around, not huge lines. The next weekend it was wall to wall people & miserable.

Pick March if you don't care that much about SW & like cooler weather. :)

You can't go by a when some people's spring break is. My daughert's university spring break is mar 17 - 21. Our local schools spring break (depending on the county) ranges from the 2 to 4th week of March. They don't go by easter at all. It just differs so greatly from state to state and county by county within those states.

I think mid march through late april can be pretty busy with spring break.

Of course schools get out at different times in the summer too But I think most go through the end of May. I would personally pick the May dates.

You have to do what is comfortable to you. I personally think 6th grade is still pretty safe to miss. Many people disagree with me. Maybe talk to his teacher and see what she says. If she says it would be to hard for him, then so be it. Many teachers are willing to work around it at that age. I've had wonderful teachers who think it's great I'm taking them to Disney and are willing to work extra with them. I'm opening myself up here for attack. popcorn:: That's just my HO.

If you are set, then the May dates are what I would go for.

When does he start in the fall? some schools start later, and the last week in August can also be a great time.

After having said all that, you will have an amazing time no matter when you pick. It is Disney after all. :flower3:
