Help me choose, Port Orleans Riverside or Art of Animation?

Our family is currently booked at POR in a garden view room. I've stayed there before and liked it but we usually stay in deluxe resorts. Which we prefer since we have time to spend at the resort. Poly and Beach club are our favorites. This is short trip for us, only 5 nights so we will not be at the resort as much. Art of Animation in a little Mermaid room would be the same price as POR because there are no discounts available for our dates. The resort looks really nice and of course appeals to us since it's new. I'm just not sure if I would miss the peace and quiet of POR and also the queen beds.

Thanks in advance,

I would stick with POR. While AOA looks fun, the theming is a little over the top for my crew. I love POR's food options and atmosphere. Rooms have been refurbished along with the lobby.

Your trip is pretty close, so I cant imagine AOA has room availability.

In the end, I guess it really depends on the ages of your group. Good luck!

Actually AOA has availability which surprised me. So I held a room there for 24 hours. My kids are age 12 and 8. They don't care that much where we stay if it's not the Poly :). Though my DS8 thinks AOA looks awesome. I know what you're saying though about the theming being over the top. :goodvibes

We are actually booked for both of these for our Oct. trip. If you're doing room only and not a pkg have you considered a split stay? We're doing 2 at AOA and the rest at POR. We do split stays almost every trip and I've loved it every vacation. This will be our first stay at both of these hotels and we're very excited. We usually avoid the value due to heavy crowds but since it is brand new my husband agreed to 1 or 2 nights. We love the Beach Club also but are being very tight with our money on this trip.

Thanks.I know what you mean, deluxe is not in the budget since it's an extra trip this year. I don't mind changing resorts but the rest of the family likes to stay put at one resort. I think we may just do 1 night at AOA before our POR package starts. My DD and DH really would rather just settle in at POR. But DS and I want to see the new resort and try out that pool. :)

how is AoA the same price if no discounts? It's cheaper than POR per night

I'd stay put at POR if it's the same. Bigger beds, quaint resort, boat to DTD

I'm sorry for not being more clear. We would have a small discount for POR but AOA would be rack rate. Yes the bigger beds are a plus. :goodvibes

We always do a split stay and love it. I think your idea is wonderful....do one night at AoA and then move over to POR. Thats what im gonna do for next year...split stay between AoA and a moderate (not sure which yet).
