We ( myself, DW, DS 8,DD basically 5)have had a Disney World trip planned since June. We will be staying at the Polynesian for 8 nights/7 days late Saturday night arrival until the following Sunday morning. The plan is 5 park days 2@MK & 1 each at the others. We would also do 2 resort/relaxing days Tuesday and Saturday to not wear ourselves out.

We have done a 7 night cruise this past April on the Fantasy and we overwhelming loved it. I am seeing (what I think is) a great Oceanview guarantee rate for 5 nights on the Magic western Caribbean for 2200 taxes and fees included. The cruise would go from Sunday-Friday. I would keep the last 2 days booked at the Polynesian and maybe do a park Friday afternoon/night or Saturday all day. We would keep our plane tickets into MCO and just use the car we are renting anyway and drive to/from Miami. I can still Bank my other points for the nights I would be cancelling so I wouldn't lose those.

My son who is the only one I have asked so far is choosing the cruise. Am I crazy to switch or does it sound more relaxing to do the cruise with a couple of nights at Disney after to you all. Thanks for any advice and helping me think this through.

My kids are 9 and 11. Went on their first cruise in 2012. They hands down pick the cruise over Disneyworld every time. I even tried to get them to go to Disneyland/San Diego on our next trip and they still said they would rather go on a cruise. So we will be on the Magic.
Have you asked your wife her preference?
In my opinion you can't go wrong either way!

I'd do the cruise without a doubt, especially if trying to relax. DCL has easily risen to the top of favorite Disney thing to do.

Haven't gotten to yet she's still at work but I plan to when she gets home. I was just looking for confirmation that I'm not crazy to suggest it to her. Sometimes I get those wifely head shakes at my ideas to often

I would go with the cruise but personally I might spend the last few days on the beach at a lovely resort in South Florida after the cruise. I'd switch my flights to fly home from MIA or FLL.

I love the Disney parks but if my main goal were to relax I would definitely choose DCL over WDW. And if I wanted a touch of magic from the parks then I'd go a couple days before the cruise rather than after. OR I'd take a longer vacation. My DH works 24/7 and we usually take longer vacations so he has time to unwind. BUT if the vacation absolutely must be shorter then every single minute of that vacay must be like gold - not a lot of room for error (or long drives, or hassles, etc.) Keep it simple.

How about a Back to Back Magic cruise . . . ? ;)

Best to ask your wife, I agree.

My kids would pick a cruise hands down. What cruise is this because the Magic doesn't sail out of Miami until Fall?

Well we are going with the cruise. My wife seemed on the fence a little about picking it I think because of how much planning I've done for the Disney trip but once I showed her how everyone said to go with the cruise she jumped on board right away. So thanks for all the replies.

Anything in particular I should know about the Magic or a 5 day cruise?

Thanks again

Given a choice between the World and a cruise, I'll choose the cruise 15 out of 10 times.
