Yes, i quoted that to her & she said this applies to 2010 hols too. As it doesn't state any other dates for hols after Dec 09, I must take her word for it. She did'nt ring back so I couldn't book & will have to ring again tomorrow.

Even if someone has said it applies to 2010 bookings i'll be very surprised if they don't either extend the dates or offer it again at a later date, I doubt holiday bookings will pick up enough for next year that they won't need to offer incentives to get more. JMHO of course :)

The rooms are furnished to a much higher more luxurious standard at SSR than at OKW. Been in both.

I phoned disney.co.uk last week and asked when the closing date was for bookings on SSR and OKW for Sept 2010 where the free dining is included. I was told that the closing date for this offer at these resorts for September 2010 was Dec 21st 2009. I assume that the other accomadations would have the same cut off dates, but that is just my guess work.

Wayneg has also posted stuff from holiday companies who state Dec 31st cut off date iirc, so maybe its longer if you book through Virgin Holidays.

If I was you I would phone tomorrow to be sure and put your mind at rest, thats all I was doing really but then I couldn't resist and booked about 30 minutes later :)

Well I do intend to book today so hopefully even if the cut off date is today then it sholdn't be a problem. I will be sure and ask when I call this afternoon and report back.

I know the interior of SSR is supposedly better, I assumed it would be as it is newer, but the outside of SSR doesn't really appeal. I love the tropical feel of OKW (loved CBR), it's probably one of the reasons that BC, YC etc have never appealed to me. To be honest we are no the type to spend a long time in our room, but do like to feel comfortable when we do. From what I have seen in pictures, OKW looks really nice!

Am looking forward to securing my booking today:banana:

Called back today and was advised that the cut off date for free dining & 42% offer at SSR & OKW is 31 Dec. Maybe that's why the first advisor did'nt ring back. I am so relieved as I really wanted to try SSR out this year & visit OKW to see which I prefer. Also, I prefer to book the flights first. I know I'm taking a chance on them getting fully booked but as both resorts are so big, I think it will be okay. I didn't book for this year until March.

so can wait a few days and still get the 42%? tried to call but on hold for ages

Yes, I kept repeating that it was Dec 31st & she kept confirming, even suggusted that I took a look around OKW while staying at SSR this Aug. First cm must have made a mistake or was pushing for me to book as she kept saying she would hold until I phoned DH to confirm dates and then that she would ring me last night as she wasn't in today.

Well I am booked at OKW from Sept 9th 2010 for 16 nights and deluxe disney dining:banana::banana:I just can't pass up a tropical paradise:lovestruc SSR did sound really good, loved the idea of being so close to DTD and the spa, but in the end the look of OKW is what made it for me. I was wanting to book 5 nights WL and split my stay but it seems an impossibility when having the dining plan.

Anyone else booked?

Nice one. I hope that you will love OKW as much as we do.

I'm a bit late to this thread and, as you've obviously already made your decision, my thoughts are a bit academic, so I won't say too much. SSR is our home resort and we've now stayed there 3 times. The newness of accommodation is one of the most important considerations for us and for that reason alone, I don't imagine we'd ever choose to stay at OKW. Both are very definitely "Disney" to my mind, although whether or not that is quite the same as "having the Disney magic", I'm not sure. If (from your perspective) they do differ in that respect from the traditional hotels, I'd say they're both going to suffer similarly. You might be interested to read a few instalments of my trip report from November last year. Sadly, I've yet to write up the day we took a stroll over to OKW, although it is next on my list and I do intend to get around to it soon. ;)

Resort-hopping is one of our favourite things to do whilst at WDW and your dilemma is yet another reason why it's a good idea. I'm sure if you'd visited both OKW and SSR, your decision would have been easier. Trying to base it on other people's preferences doesn't really work. Our first ever onsite stay back in 2000 was at the Beach Club, based on a very similar thread to yours. We were also considering the BoardWalk and the Yacht Club and, once we arrived and had the opportunity to visit all three, the Beach Club ended up being our least favourite.

UKDEB- do you have any pics of the studios at SSR??

we are looking at booking for next year but worried about the size, we will have to have two cots

thanks claire- will i have room for two travel cots in the space in front of the sofa or is it best to upgrade to a villa?

they will be 8/9 months old at the time

If you move the coffee table out of the way then maybe but I am not sure of the size of two travel cots! Could also move the table and chairs a bit I guess to make more room.

Claire ;)
