I want to make an ADR at DHS for late lunch or early dinner.

We have eaten at 50s Primetime Cafe, but that's it at DHS. We liked that, but would like to try something different. I was looking at Sci Fi but I've read mixed reviews about the food. Advice? We are a family of 4--Me, DH, DD10 and DS8.

Thanks!

I would defintley give Sci-Fi at try. We just had dinner there 3 weeks ago & it was very good. A good choice, especially if you like burgers & shakes. You also get to watch movies too !!!

It's a two credit venue, but the food at the Brown Derby was excellent. We ate lunch there in October and everything was really tasty. We also did the Fantasmic! Dining package and it was a great way to get the priority seating.

Thanks! I think we will give Sci-Fi a try then. DH and DS8 love sci-fi stuff so I think they will like it. Plus who doesn't like a good burger and a shake!?

Among the Table Service Restaurants in Hollywood Studios I have been to 50's Prime Time Cafe and Hollywood Brown Derby, so either one of those locations would be great.

Let me add my grain of salt on the basis of DHS TS I have experienced.

Sci Fi Dinner is an interesting overall experience, worth 1TS credit, and I recommend to try once. However, I think it is fair to say that food reviews are mixed. There you will find correct fast-food, but nothing great. I recommend to plan an healther meal the same day.

For better food with 1TS, I would go with Mama Melrose. While it is very busy during the lunch hour, you should not have any problem to get an ADR later in the afternoon. Expect good American-Italian food, with salads, pizza and pasta. The overall experience is not as fun as Sci Fi, but the food is better.

While I like Hollywood Brown Derby for service and food, it's the less interesting Signature dinning option I have tried (and I have experienced almost all them). It should be an option only whether you have the Deluxe Dining Plan and have more credits in store than what you are going to spend.

If I can go out of the box (or park), you can catch a boat at the entrance of HS and ride to the Boardwalk, Beach/Yacht Clubs or Swan and Dolphin. It's a nice ride as a prelude to dinner, imo. :goodvibes

Hope you enjoy Sci-fi. It's lots of fun.

:)

first i'd say look at the menus. i think sci-fi is just ok (imo). mama melrose can be hit or miss but compares to say an olive garden. i thought brown derby was really good, we did lunch there early december 2011. i'd suggest you remember to consider the boardwalk venues as well...it's just a short walk or boat ride. this is what we usually do on our dhs days but then flying fish is one of our favorites as is yachtsmans.

Definitely Sci Fi. It's so unique and something you can only do at WDW. We thought the food was good - typical burgers and fries stuff. The waiter was also one of the better ones we had the whole week.

Sci-Fi! We've been twice and had really good experiences both times and will be going back for a third!

We don't rate Mama Melroses at all due to the poor service and mediocre food we experienced and Hollywood & Vine to me was just another buffet.
