I am hoping for help in choosing a resort. We are currently booked at Caribbean Beach and are consider upgrading. It will be only be my husband and I. We are in our late 40’s one of us might be almost 50 😉. My dream resort is Polynesian. We can afford to upgrade but I need to feel that the increase in cost is worth it. The amenities that are important to us are a nice bar out of the sun in the evening, easy transportation to parks and access to Disney Springs, Our favorite parks are Epcot and MK. Any suggestions. The cost to upgrade to Poly is about $1600 for a 6 night trip, I am
not sure that at $275 a night for the Polynesian is worth it,

TIA

It is totally worth it! The Poly is wonderful! The transportation options, food options, the views, atmosphere...everything is just better at a deluxe resort. You won’t regret the upgrade!

Based on what is important to you the Poly would be perfect. When I stayed at Caribbean Beach there was only the pool bar, and if it’s just the two of you, you guys might like trader Sams better.

I think it’s worth it, but the Poly is my favorite resort so I’m biased. :) Still, given your stated preferences I think it would be a great fit for you. Trader Sam’s and Tambu Lounge are great indoor bar options, and imo the Poly is the most convenient MK resort from a transportation standpoint because you have easy access to the Epcot monorail without a transfer.

But especially if the Poly is your dream resort, I think you should go for it. It was mine too and it totally lived up to it when we finally got to stay there. I only go with my partner and it’s a fantastic resort for couples, especially with the GF a short walk away.

Or if you are leery of spending so much, maybe try a split stay. Do Poly for the last 3-4 nights of your trip to test the waters...

These are my thoughts as well. I just love everything about the Poly as it's such a beautiful & relaxing resort :).

Poly sounds like a good fit and if u can swing CL... go for it. We loved it!

I second this! Stayed Poly CL for the first time a year and a half ago and it was amazing! With that said, if CL isn't an option, a standard room at the Poly is just as amazing, IMO :goodvibes.

I say go for it if the money isn’t an issue for you. Monorail and bar seem to meet what you want, but personally it isn’t worth it to me.
The transportation is faster and easier (at least to MK, EP has skyliner) but how much are you going to drink? You can buy a lot of good food/drink at EP for $1600

+1 for Split stay! You could get CL @ Poly as mentioned and I might consider Swolphin for the other part b/c you can walk to HS/Epcot, it has good restaurant / bars on site + easy walking distance, and generally I have no trouble finding rooms there cheaper or same price as CB. But it's certainly not the same scene/feel as Poly or CB.

Or, you know, if the money doesn't matter, just stay at Poly the whole time. Alternatively, I have found I can get GF CL for the same price as non CL Poly from time to time. ($550-$600 / night) it's also a different feel clearly but walkable to Poly and also has good F&B IMO.

If you can afford it without financial sacrifice or stress, then it's worth it to upgrade to any deluxe from a moderate imo. Poly in particular is sometimes the most expensive of the deluxes. For that reason, if money is a concern, I would recommend a less expensive deluxe such as a standard view room at AKL, garden wing at Contemporary, or Wilderness Lodge. But if Poly alone is what you want, then go for it if you can comfortably afford it.

I will push back against some posters' recommendations of doing a split stay. That disrupts you vacation, and you'll already only be at WDW for 6 nights. If you want Poly, go for it, and stay there the whole time so you get the complete experience. Splitting should be reserved for trips where there are multiple resorts you really, really want to stay at, and you seem to be set only on Poly.

Club level is nice but not something you need to enjoy the Poly at all. The Poly has great dining, so Club Level is an extremely unnecessary perk at that resort.

When we go to Disney, I just can't justify paying a huge amount for the resort because we love to be in the parks! That is why we usually do a split stay. We plan our resort days for our deluxe part of the trip and our park storming days for the other part.

It is like you have two vacations in one!

I haven't made it to either of those resorts for a stay, but I have visited them and they both look like a great choice!

Agree with others, if it won't put a strain financially then do it. You can walk to TTC to get the monorail to EP, and monorail to MK.

We have stayed at the Poly and liked it a lot but we just love WL. Location is great, grounds are beautiful and the lobby is amazing. We love the boat to MK . It is cheaper than Poly so you might want to look into it.

We've stayed at the Poly twice. The first time we had a just okay experience (got a bad room with a leak in the bathroom; luggage lost; too cold to swim). The second time it was heaven on earth. Experiences can totally vary even for the same family at the same resort. I'd recommend maybe doing a split stay if you want to try it out but mitigate the cost in case you don't feel it is worth it.
