Can't believe this is actually going to happen but my husband and I have the chance to have a few kid free days at Disney next month. We're looking to eat at some of the nicer restaurants we don't normally get to try with 2 kids. We'll have free dining and don't mind restaurants that take 2 TS credits. I've been looking at Narcoosees, Flying Fish, Cafe de France, and Artist Point. We're not too picky, though DH doesn't like anything too exotic with strange flavors. (He didn't like Boma.) We love seafood, steak, pasta. Any recommendations?

Have you considered California Grill at the Contemporary...while I wouldn't quite call it romantic (too many families), it is a wonderful, wonderful meal with a great view, and you and DH can go outside and watch the fireworks during your meal. (The server helps you time things so that your food won't get cold.) We did this for a "date night" last trip and loved it.

Of the ones you listed, I can't comment except that Chefs De France is NOT a Signature meal....it's 1 TS, and very crowded and noisy. Perhaps you mean Bistro de Paris, which is 2 TS? It's on the 2nd floor above Chefs De France: that one is quite good, and again if you can get a table in the right place (by the window) late enough, you can watch Illuminations while you dine.

Yachtsmen, Narcosses are the only signature we have tried and enjoyed them both. Love the filet w/ augratin potatoes @ yachtsmen

We have done Artist Point a couple of times and enjoyed the food - the service last time wasnt as great as the first, due to be rushed by our server - I hate it when they bring the check before asking if we would like any further drinks - it was almost empty too!

I don't think that you can go to Bistro de France using DDP though - as far as I know it's never been on the DDP and isnt on for 2011 yet either.

Flying Fish is our favorite signature restaurant. While we like Narcoosee's we feel that Citricos has better food and is more romantic. California Grill has a nice view but is crowded a noisy. Chefs de France is not a signature restaurant, but Bistro de Paris (upstairs) is, however, I don't believe they take the DDP.

Flying Fish is a Must for us every trip.

California Grill is great...try to plan around wishes .....you can go outside and watch it.....meaning...If wishes is at 10.....8pm dinner will have you done and by the bar with an after dinner cocktail to bring outside to watch the fireworks.....

Narcosee's.....loved the surf and turf......For some reason only signature that I did not Love was Artists Point.
Happy planning
Kerri

Citricos and Flying Fish are the best

DH never wanted to eat at signature restaurants because he thought the food was too fancy....it really isnt, it is just cooked excellently with great ingredients. He tends to ask for sauce on the side so he can taste it first to make sure he likes it. He loved Cali Grill and Citrico's, Bluezoo and Il Mulino but his favorite is Flying Fish because they have the best NY Strip he ever ate.

He will not go back to Yachtsman or Jiko.

I've eaten at every one from anywhere to 3 to 12 times. My favorite is Flying Fish. Tied for second is Citricos and Jiko. In the middle would be Ca Grill, Brown Derby, Artist Point, Yachtsman. Bottom is Narcoosees.

Cafe de France must be Chefs de France and is not a signature. Bistro de Paris is more upscale (and better than Disney's signatures) but not on the dining plan.

I loved the whole lobster at Narcosses. hubby enjoyed his steak.
we loved california grill...but. as another poster suggested..there are a lot of kids. while watching the fireworks, it was very distaracting that a man near us had his son on his shoulders YELLING out the dif. colors constantly (could barely hear the music, over "green! red! blue! etc. etc.)

I would do the steakhouse in frace (EPCOT) and the Yachtsmen. They are two very good choices and you cannot go wrong with either.

Flying Fish for sure! We love the Brown Derby, and enjoy California Grill as well. Artist's Point is nice too. Haven't tried Citricos. Narcoosees has a nice view...we found the food to be not so great, but we are trying it again next trip. :)

I just ate at a ton of signature dining restaurants on our last trip, and our favorites were Artist Pointe and Jiko.

Flying Fish would be a contender except the service was terrible. DH had the steak which he proclaimed the best meal of the trip...but I cannot handle poor service, and we got it from both the server and the manager unfortunately.

going to Yachtsman's next trip.. which of the yummy steak choices do you prefer?

Here are some of our Signature Restaurant experiences, hope it helps :

Narcoosee's ( is a must for us every year ) .... good food, and great view during Wishes!

Brown Derby.....fantastic servers, great food, nice atmosphere.

Artist Point....great food - but not all your typical entrees, great atmosphere.

California Grill... very loud, not very romantic, I agree with PP - tons of kids running to the windows (this may not be what you want on your kid free night).

Le Cellier .... nice atmosphere, good food, great servers... very active restaurant also (from the times we have been

Where ever you go - have a great time :)

Citrico's and Flying Fish are my two favorites. Followed by California Grill and Jiko's. Yachtsman's and Artist Point were okay. The only redeeming factor about Narcoossee's is the Almond Crusted Cheesecake. :)

We had an amazing meal at Artist Point in Sept. Last May we ate at Flying Fish, the food was great but the service was lacking had to keep asking for refills etc.
