She obviously has figured out this is a great way to get your goat. Wrap up a lovely scarf and be done with it!! If DH wants to jump in and buy her something else--well, it's a free country.
The DN's too--I mean it--STOP, STOP, STOP worrying about these children. I'd give them the gift of a gift card to the movies, or to the zoo, or to a play or concert aimed at a young audience. If their DM decides not to use it--too bad for them.
Focus on enjoying your holiday and thinking about building good memories with DH and your kids or your more appreciative family and friends.
