Help Me Buy a Steam Mop, Please

Anybody here on the weekends that can help me with their reviews on a steam mop?

It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have a steamer - if I did I'd tell you what I know. I'm actually lurking on your thread to get ideas on steam mops. ;) How about Amazon for reviews? They usually have every product imaginable with lots of reviews to do good research.

I totally forgot that I had done a video review on the bissell steam mop! You'll see how easy it is to use and how well it cleans in my short video.

Feel free to ask any questions, I have been following the thread more or less.
I have been thinking of getting a steam mop for quite a while and have been following this thread. Your video was really helpful! I do have a question though: my bathroom is quite small and was wondering how this mop head is? Does it swivel at all? Is it difficult to get into tight spaces? Thanks!

I also use it in both of my bathrooms, neither of which are big!

The mop head swivals alot, which was one thing I loved about it. It goes completely right and completely left. Sorry, can't think of a better way to describe it. The only place I cannot get the head is behind the toilet in that small space. I can get it on each side which is very small in our one bathroom!

Have you used it only on vinyl flooring. I really need to know if it works on tile and grout well.

I have the Bissell. I got it from HSN. I paid $84.90 total.
It works very good, but it seems like I have togo very slow with it. Does anyone else find that, or do I just need to go faster.

I have also used it on wood, but not tile with grout. I can't imagine that any of these would do well with grout. I find the only way I can get grout clean to my liking is to get down on my hands and knees.

:scared1: Not what I wanted to hear. :rotfl:

I'm still going to buy it and try it. Save the receipt and give it a whirl.

Got a video on doing laundry from my children!!!! :)

I have a shark and I got it before christmas...used it three times and love it. I use distilled water in it. We got it a Costco.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it better to use distilled water? Why do you use distilled?

Has anyone sen the Bissell Blue unit with carpet attachment in stock anywhere? Is this more expensive than the 1867-7 unit? Does the carpet 'refresher' work?

I'm so confused! I really want one, but I don't know if I would be wasting my money.

Can anyone recommend one they absolutely love?

I have a high traffic kitchen, mud room area. My side door entrance of the house enters into the mud room and there is also a garage door entrance in the same area with the bathroom entrance just off the kitchen. Everything located in the same area. The tile runs through the mud room hall, bathroom and kitchen.

So to take off your shoes to run into the bathroom and out again is just well, never going to happen here.

Even will all the rugs I put down to wipe your feet, my porcelain tile is looking pretty bad these days and I was looking for a steam mop that I can whip out and run over the tile quickly at the end of the night, but I want one that will do a decent job. I'm so tired of getting on my hands and knees. Its a pretty big area.

Help me buy a steam mop, please, because replacing your family is never going to happen. :)

This could have been my post, just about exactly the same space and issues! I actually ordered my steam mop from BBB yesterday. I ordered the
H20 mop by Thane after researching a ton of reviews. (They also do suggest distilled water if you have hard water to avoid clogging, to answer the question from another post). It seemed to out perform the Shark on almost all of the reviews I read.
I considered the Shark, but wanted continuous steam. Also considered Bissell, but liked the triangular head on the H20 mop for cleaning corners and under things.

Hope that helps!

The second time I used my new Bissell it stripped the shine off my vinyl floor.:confused3 I had to put a new layer of shine keeper and it looks fine. Any ideas! Too much work if I have to do this each time!

Maybe this will be perfect for me. My shine is gone and I have ground in dirt that just won't come off no matter how hard I scrub. Maybe the steam mop will lift it all out?

This has been my experience with a steam mop. I had the H2O 1st and now have the Shark. I don't have vinyl but I have hardwood, laminate and tile.

When I 1st used the H2O it took several cleanings of the floors to get off all the other cleaners. The 1st few times it got dull, streaky, etc but after several cleanings it became like new and remained that way. The H20 broke (it was about 2 years old) and I went several months before replacing it with the Shark. I was using either Swifter wet or Murphys Wood cleaner or just water and ammonia. I had the same experience again, it took several cleanings to get off the old cleaners. They really do build up and cause the dull look until they are completely removed.

What I did was to make sure I changed the pad for each room and started with a fresh pad. It took several days to get through the whole house about 3 times and the kitchen & mud room took about 4 or 5 times. In the end it was really worth it. The floors are streak free and feel clean, really clean. I will never go back to a regular mop or cleaner.

I have alot of traffic, kids, grandkids, animals and we live in the country so there is lots of dirt.

Ok ladies I think $80 for a mop is nuts regardless of the claims!!! I use teh cheapo mop from target and use vinegar and hot water to mop my floors and they look great! Once and a hile I use murphys oil soap . I have tile and vinyl!!! Cheap and clean!!!! :) Don't make youselves nuts.... just mop!!!!

So its ok to use on hardwood floors? DH would kill me if I ruined the hardwood floors in our new house.

By the way, what else do I need to do with the hardwood? Do I need to wax or something every once in awhile? We never had hardwood before.

I have had the Shark Steam Mop for about a month and I love it! Leaves my kitchen floors squeaky clean. I have used it on my wood laminate floors once, but I get nervous, so I just use my regular cleaning solution for that.
