Amtrak's Seattle station lets off really close to the park. If you're going to stay overnight, then you'll probably want to stay close-by. If you're going to go home that evening, be sure you've checked the time of the last train.
If you have AAA and buy at least 2 weeks in advance, that can save you some money. If you plan on doing this more than once, sign the two of you up for Amtrak Guest Rewards to get credit for the trips.
