Yes, I am serious. I know my DH loves baked potatoes. He always gets them when we go out. I do not like them and have never made one. I am making him a special dinner tomorrow night and need to know how to do it. Please, someone help.

Here you go from the Food Network site:

1 large baking potato
Butter or creme fraiche, as an accompaniment

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Poke holes in potato and wrap in foil. Bake in oven for 45 to 60 minutes until tender.
Serve with butter or creme fraiche.

I usually don't wrap my baked potato in foil. That is just a personal preference of mine. I generally wash the potato, rub it down with olive oil and bake it in the oven. I have never timed them, that is why I had to look up a recipe for you.

These are the times when I am happy my microwave has a special button for every food :D

I put mine in the microwave and push the *bake potato* button. Make sure to poke holes in it. :)

Skip the foil.

And make sure it's fully cooked. Partially baked spuds are gross. Give it the "Squeeze" test to make sure it's soft inside.

TO BAKE IN OVEN:

Choose firm potato, I prefer the idaho bakers. Wash throughly, pat dry. Rub lightly with shortning and pierce skins. Bake in oven at 350 degree about 1 hour or until tender.

TO MICROWAVE:

Same type of potato, wash throughly pierce skins to prevent bursting in oven. arrange 6 in circular pattern in microwave. Bake for about 10 minutes on high or until tender. I also find if I flip them over halfway thru the cycle the bake more evenly.

Add salt, pepper, sourcream to taste

Enjoy!!:teeth:

My microwave doesnt have a button. About how long?

I pushed my button for you and it came up 3 minutes. And that's on high. :)

Thank You all. I hope it comes out right. If not, I still grill a killer steak!

5-7 min on high in my micro. Remember to poke holes in it before putting it in.

I prefer baking them in foil and in the oven for utter perfection. The other day I had GIANT potatoes...it took an hour & 45 mins to bake them! But oh were they good...

We love baked potatoes out on the grill...

Poke some holes in the potatoes, take some tin foil and lightly butter the inside - wrap the foil on the potato.

The potatoes should be on the grill about 45 minutes to an hour before you put on the steaks.

If your grilling the steak, I would just wrap the potato in foil and put it on the grill for about 1hr.

::yes::

I take a med size potato, pierce with fork several times. Put it in a corning wear bowl with a slab of butter on top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper put the lid on and bake for 10 min in micro.

If you really want to impress... don't bake the potato in the microwave. They taste sooo much better in the oven or baked on the grill. As someone else posted, just put it in the barbeque about an hour before you want to eat. Don't forget to poke it!!!

yep...the "potato" "frozen veggie" and "popcorn" buttons get quite a workout in my house.

love sensor cook! heheh

even after nuking, i've wrapped taters in foil and thrown on the grill (or in the oven, whichever i'm working with) to 'crisp up' the skin a bit.

Scrub 'em, poke holes and rub with olive oil. Sprinkle with kosher salt and bake for 1 hour at 375. This has never failed me!
