Help me analyze these two contracts

I’d bet something is brewing. Amping up ROFR, significant direct membership perks that will temper the resale market, etc.

I'd love to see significant Blue Card perks! Heck, add a couple rooms from the Star Wars hotel, or one Extra Magic Hour on the first Tuesday of the month, or a special DVC AP that is Mon-Thurs -- any of that, and I'll buy direct right now. But sadly, that isn't the direction DVC has gone. It has built LESS magical properties with LESS magic, even before Covid.

The Blue Card has no bite right now. Even restored, you need a lot of people buying a lot of APs to make it worth it. Still worth it for some, but not my family.

Blue Card perks cost money. Changing the contract terms (like RIV did) and jacking up the point charts doesn't. The question for quite some time is why buy direct at all when the perks are so few? With no new construction, I expect O14 to keep going up until there's something to look forward to that isn't RIV.

I'm not really sure what you mean by make it "unappealing." I mean, it's already got a terrible website, hours long phone waits, and is getting ROFRed, so none of that is new.

Muddying the waters is trying to decide if I would rather spend the money on larger accommodations, or club level rooms.

Larger rooms via 1BR or owning at a resort like OKW or RIV for larger studios will always have you in bigger rooms.

Club level is not something easily gotten.

If by this you mean you cant always count on getting a cl level room, much less at a discount, then I agree. One major reason DVC appeals to me is you book your home resort at 11 mo and you are done. No waiting or hoping for a discount that may or may not apply to your room or travel dates.

No I mean booking the room with points. From my understanding lots of times they are walked and are a small room category.

Update for completeness sake:

We decided not to purchase DVC at all, for a multitude of reasons
-we like club level, and that fits best with our current life situation (2 small children) and park touring strategy. We also like the “feel” of club level and some of the extra perks it comes with
-DH didn’t want to be locked into a contract
-cost: we are considering some home renovations and decided to put the money there
-and this one makes me sad, but DVC as a whole has made some decisions the last few years that make me less excited about the prospect of owning. 5 years ago I was sure that at some point we would buy in. Now, management decisions make me second guess it all, and that’s a lot of money to be investing in something that you feel uneasy about

i want to thank everyone for their thoughts and input. This board is so supportive. I like seeing how people come to decisions, so I decided to update to reflect ours.

Ps ignore any typos, I am holding a sleeping baby 😝
