Help! May or Sept visit?

Any advice? We can't decide on going to Poly in May or late Sept.
May weather is always beautiful, but since last minute I will break 4 year old DD heart by not eating with Cindy at the castle or princesses in Epcot since too late for priority seating. Has anyone had success with 48 hr before cancellations? Also the week in May (20th-28th) that we would go may be crowded due to Memorial Day. Sept we are concerned with rain from hurricane season, and early closing of parks, but yet it is value season and is cheaper. If my 2yr old needs to nap in afternoon, not worthwhile to go back into parks if close at 6:00 PM.
Any opinions out there?

We have checked getting into the Poly the first week of May and found even rack rate rooms are not available. It seems a lot of people are traveling again. Virtually everyone I know has some plans for a vacation in the next 6 months. We have never taken a chance with waiting for rooms until 2 days before. I do not know if I would try it. Unfortunately WDW is the type of place you need to plan far in advance for if you want to do the popular things like cindys. Good luck.

I would definitely do September. We did WDW for 4 nights in Spetember 2 years ago and it was great! Because not many people will take their kids out of school right after it starts up, the crowds were very light all over. Plus the weather is awesome. I live in Tampa, and the rainy season is pretty much over by then. If it does rain, it only rains for maybe an hour and then stops. And as for Hurricanes, we haven't had one hit in ten years. Anything can happen at any time. We took a Disney cruise last Sept and everone told me I was "nuts" because it was hurricane season. Naturally we had perfect weather.
Trust me, go in September.

Zalansky,
reading your post was such a relief to me. I have a Disney wedding and Honeymoon planned in September, (and the ceremony is outside), I guess we can relax now about the hurricanes! Thanks

I'd go with September. It's cheaper and it's cooler. Hurricanes really don't effect Central Florida that much anyway - USUALLY! I sure wouldn't go Memorial Weekend!!

September, September, September!!!! LOL!!!

It's our favorite time of the year to go...no crowds, not too hot (you usually get cooled off with a quick shower at some point during the day). And chances are you won't have any hurricane problems (we were there for Hurricane Floyd though LOL!)

Not to mention, hotels and airfare are usually cheaper in Sept. than May!!

Every year I go 5/20-6/03, Memorial Day the most crowded park is MK it is not so bad . In May there are many activities like Flower and Garden festival,Star War Weekend .Epcot is beautiful at this time.climate 70-80 very sunny days!!!!!!!:sunny: ::wave2:

I have been both months and enjoy them both. It seems to rain more in September, though. Both months can be equally as hot. We visited Disney last May and had such a wonderful experience with almost no crowds, that we have booked a vacation this May as well. Keep in mind that after Labor Day and as fall approaches, more rides shut down for renovation. You can check ride closings on Mouseplanet.com.

And as someone mentioned, hurricanes don't usually affect central Florida, BUT it could send a lot of rain that way.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for all the advice! I tried to make May plans and the airfare already is outrageous! So still undecided unless I can get good airfare out of newark, nj.
