Help March 17-Mardi Gras- how crowded

So we have the 7 day pass, arriving March 13, staying til march 22, we will probably first use our pass March 14 or 15. March 17 is Mardi Gras. Our plan was probably to only go to Universal 3 days (start early, leave by mid afternoon each day), 2 of us have been before (stayed on-site then so did it all and more, 2 of us have nevr been.

The Temptations are the group doing the concert that night, which I owuld like to see (kids are 13, 13, and 15)

So how crowded do you think the March 17 Mardi Gras will be, and if we arrive on a Saturday at Unviersal say lunch time, will it be impossible?

Any ideas/suggestions welcomed.

Well it won't be impossible because that's what my family usually does. We arrive in the afternoon for Mardi Gras. As the day goes on, it usually gets more crowded as people sleep in and rest in the morning and then go to the park later so they can stay until the end.

Yes, it will be very crowded that Saturday and most of the lines will probably be long. But you will still have tons of fun, just be prepared to wait in line. If you are also going on another day, I wouldn't worry about it because with 2 or 3 days, you will have plenty of time to see everything, especially if you go on a weekday. So if one ride has a 2hour wait, you can just avoid it on the day of Mardi Gras and do it another day.

I don't remember the parks being overly crowded for St. Patrick's Day but as the evening progresses, it will definately pick up because of Mardi Gras. I've been plenty of times and haven't noticed a huge influx of people but whoever the performer is that particular night will have an impact.

I'll be there on that night as well.
