Just got back 750 pictures from Sam's club from our West Coast DCL cruise and have a 20 page postbound 12x12 book someone gave me as a gift. How do I decide which pictures to crop and which to just put in a regular photo album? (someone gave me 2 of these). Being postbound this means I can add more pages if I want to right? I have grouped my pictures by ports, restaurants, room pictures, Diser pictures, formal, semi formal, around the ship, etc......I am going in the right direction? Should I pick out pictures for the twenty pages or do a page at a time and see what happens? Any help is appreciated!

First of all, welcome to the land of scrapping. Beware it is very addictive!

Now on to the good stuff. Yes a post bound album can be added to. I have a family album that I have added to twice. These are the only ones I buy although there are a lot to choose from. Grouping pictures with a common theme is good. You could also do it in chronological order, what ever suits your fancy. You could just gather pictures for the twenty pages but I personally would do a page at a time. I tend to move things around.

Think about what you would like to do with your albums and how they would be displayed. Do your regular albums get looked through often? My regular albums tend to get stuffed away, but my scrapbooks are out all the time. I am the type of person that has to use every picture so I try to get them in one place. 750 pictures is very doable and you are on the right track with sorting. Take a look at www.twopeasinabucket.com and right here on the DIS for ideas. There are a lot of people here who are very helpful. We also love to shop so you will find all of the good deals here. You will have no shortage of supplies after we are done with you. :rotfl2:
Feel free to ask more questions as they arise. Happy scrapping!!

Thanks for the encouraging reply! I have been buying all kinds of things from all your favorite sites bookmarked at the top of the forum. I can see how it would be so addictive. The book I received was just a kit, but I decided the pastel colors just wouldn't work for what I want, so had to buy other stuff and will save the stuff in the kit for another project someday! Everyone has such neat pages. But you did get me thinking when you said 750 pics are doable. I would never have thought of doing that.
Maybe I could put the ship pictures in one book and do all the ports as different books. Hmmm.....any other suggestions out there? I don't have a whole lot of free time, so might have to stick with the 20 pages for now. Looks like lots of fun though.

You could definitely do more than one book. For our last trip to WDW DH took 1200 pictures in 5 days. One of my albums that I'm currently working on a Disney ABC album. Stuff that doesn't really have a theme or that doesn't have a spot will go in this album. Also pictures that are basically the same shot. I also have an animal book, we love to take pictures of wildlife. The animal and ABC albums are the only ones I'm doing with culmination of pictures from throughout the years but they still stick to a basic theme.
I also don't have a lot of time. You are definitely on the path to success with the sorting. If I have a few spare minutes I put kits together, Creative Memories calls them power layouts. Basically you put your paper, photos, and embellishments together in a kit and when you can, go back to them and put them together.
I took a peek at my Disney album and a lot of my pages have 2- 6 pictures per page. It really depends on how much you can crop away from the edges. Just don't feel the need to complete an album immediately. It can get overwhelming, trust me. You do what you can, when you can. It will all come together eventually.

My DH put it best. He said I never want to hear the words finished and scrapbook in the same sentence, because it will never happen.

That's funny! You should see the corner of my dining area. Full of stuff I've been collecting the past few weeks. Ordered stuff online I haven't even opened yet. Now that I have the pictures it's time to get started. Guess I'll get over to Twopeas and check out some other pages before I start. Thanks for all your help.

Welcome to our exciting - and expensive - world!
Personally I scrap out of an order - what ever pictures strike my fancy at the moment to do! Pull it altogether later into the book!
Just have fun - thats the best thing about scrapping - you really can't do anything -WRONG- ;)
