Hey Guys,

This is my first post and I'm wondering if you could help me....

I'm planning on suprising my wife with a trip to Disney World this Chistmas (hopefully leaving the 21st of Jan. 2012 for 7 days). But here's the thing, I want to suprise her Christmas morning, but I have no idea on how to do it......

Perferably I would like for her to unwrap a gift and somehow this gift would relay the fact that one of her biggest dreams is about to come true.

I need your advice. She is the biggest Disney Fan I have ever met in my entire life and I want this day to be remembered for ever.....no pressure

There are so many creative things that you can do. Of course, I can't think of anything at the moment!

Before you decide on anything, you might want to go to YouTube and type in "Disney World Surprise" in the search box. A lot of the videos that will come up feature surprising children, but there are a few adult Disney surprise ones, too.

People have done scavenger/treasure hunts around the house (With clues leading up to the surprise). Some people fill a large box with Disney items such as t-shirts, pajamas, etc. (Things to be used/worn on the trip). Balloons (Non-Disney or a Mickey balloon) can pop out of the box beforehand.

You can also wrap up a piece of new luggage and fill it with Disney items. Besides clothes you can fill it with Disney DVDs, books about Disney World or Walt Disney himself, a Disney travel book, Disney picture frame, etc.

Make sure you incorporate (If possible) Disney music with your surprise. Have it playing in the background or something. Good song choices for a surprise can be "When You Wish Upon a Star" and "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" (Of course, the song possibilities are endless).

I took my grandaughter for her first ever WDW trip as a Christmas present several years ago. I filled the box with some Disney tshirts I had bought at the Disney store, a WDW guide book for kids, (you could put a copy or the PassPorter or the Unoffical Guide) and a Hidden Mickey book. I then added a few invitations I had printed off from some characters for a few of the character meals we'd be doing. You can get copies of some of the characters' signatures off the internet and just copy them onto the invitations. The invitations said things like, 'Looking forward to seeing you at Chef Mickey's January 3rd' or 'Can't wait to meet you at Crystal Palace on January 5th' or 'This is a special invitation for Princess Aubriee. Please join me to dine at the castle January 6th'. I then signed them Mickey Mouse, Winnie Pooh, and Cinderella. I then bought a little wooden airplane in the craft section at Michaels and painted it silver. On the side of it I painted 'Aubriee is going to Walt Disney World January 2nd-9th'. My grand daughter was so excited when she opened that box.

Don't forget the Dining Reservations! You can also print up cards with the reservations to the different restaurants you plan to take her to each day (you will have time to make some changes -- I am still adjusting things for our trip in less than 3 weeks) You have to take her to a character breakfast!

You didn't mention if you wife works or plans to be working at the time of the trip. I have heard of people actually contacting their spouses boss and arranging vacation time for them without them knowing.

I'm sure it would make for an even bigger surpise if she doesn't even know she is scheduled for even a stay at home vacation.

WOW...these are all awesome suggestions! its very interesting to see what others have come up with...hopefully there will be more to come.

The invitations would be a great idea, I thought about (after I secure a ADR for CRT) creating a type of old scroll with caligraphy style writing with all the details and then sealing the scroll with red wax with a big "C" stamped into it.

Another idea may be to try and find one of those cards that play music (perferably "when you wish apon a star") and rig it so it plays music when she opens the gift?

Thanks so much for the suggestion, I was looking on Ebay for the ears but had no idea in regards to a specific site that sold personalized sets...I will definately be doing this!

I love the calligraphed scroll idea!

If you cannot find a card that plays music (i.e. "When You Wish Upon a Star"), you can always have the song playing in the background.

How about presenting her with a new set of luggage or maybe a carry on and fill it with a nice WDW t shirt, flip flops, sunblock, Disney night shirt, a Disney Gift card, guide book, a CD with Disney music, anything else you think she might like for the trip. If you are going by plane, you could print out the itinerary too. You can go online to the WDW site and plan some meals, activities and print out that itinerary too. It will be fun doing some of the planning together after she opens her gift. Sounds like a wonderful Christmas gift and one she will remember forever. Have fun planning this very special gift.

I did something similar with carry ons for my kids and grandkids this past Christmas and they were so excited!

We invited friends on their honeymoon to Walt Disney World.

As we didn't have a gift to put on their presents table at the wedding, I created this invitation card from the Gang:

and as for the ear's, disney.com sells them in their store, and you can put the name on them. I thought I could only get them at the parks, but that just isn't true anymore

and i cried when those kids watched that slide show. I wish someone would have (or will? ) surprised me like that. Ah well, I can do that for my kid one day, if she took surprises better. We are working on it!

Order one of the free Disney holiday planning DVD's and wrap that. She will think you have just brought her a CD!
My Parents surprised me, my sisters and our partners with a disney trip a few years ago for christmas. They wrapped the tickets in a box with a winter themed Pooh bear, Tigger etc.

I love the surprise Disney trip! Very thoughtful of you!
We're doing something similar this Christmas with my niece and nephew (my son will only be 2, so I'm not sure the surprise will mean much to him) and we'll only be going one week before you! I know these are for kids, but I thought you could do a spin off of them for your wife.

Anyway, some of the things that we have thought about doing...
- breakfast with mickey ear pancakes
- we always make a calender for the grandparents, only Jan 2012 will be decked out in WDW pictures and stickers instead of the usual winter theme
- Small WDW gifts for each of the kids in their stockings. A trading pin, chocolates in mickey shapes, mickey pajamas for my son etc
- mickey mouse xmas paper for the gifts
- And then their last gift that they'll each open up at the same time (or somewhat at the same time ) will be a big box filled with helium filled mickey balloons. Attached to one of them will be a chain of paper links with the amount of days until we go. So they can have a countdown.

It's going to be hard to keep it a secret for the next 10 month, but I think the surprise will make it all worth it!

Last Christmas, we surprised our daughters with a Disney Cruise. We left on Jan. 15. So, their last gift to open was a HUGE box. Inside, I had helium balloons that rose up to the ceiling attached to a sign that read "Disney Cruise Jan. 15". They LOVED it, and the huge box was torture for them to have to wait to open! lol
Beware, helium balloons don't hold as much as you'd think. I was lucky that my kids were gone for Christmas Eve...I had to make 3 trips to the party store for additional balloons!
You are so sweet to be planning and surprising your wife! I did something similar for my husband for our 1st anniversary: I planned a 4 night trip to Vegas, didn't tell him ANYTHING, and woke him up the morning of the trip with his bags packed. I didn't tell him where we were going until after the limo dropped us off at the airport! He had NO IDEA! It was fabulous.

Do you do stockings? If so, wrap several small items trip related, and then the last item will be either a DVD or invite Good luck with whatever you decide, but, please let us know what you do and how she reacts
