Help! Leaving in a month - Not sure if adding DDP is worth it for us!

Hi everyone,

My mom and I leave in a month for Disney! We are currently booked in a standard room at POFQ with a FLORIDA resident discount. We were planning on purchasing the FL Res play 4 days pass as our park tickets, although we only have 3 park days planned. Currently we have 3 table service meals planned over our 4 days and eat counter service the other times with a snack or 2 during the day.

For the room and tickets, I am at a total of $868, with taxes.

I added up the cost of the table service meals I know we will definitely be eating, and I came to a total of about $158, including resort mugs, but not including tax and tip.

When you combine those meals, mugs, resort and tickets, I am at $1026. When I searched for the price of the dining plan with a 3-day base ticket I got a total of $1294.22, for a difference of $268.

I know this sounds stupid, but will I really spend $268 on food? I know we would add another table service which would probably be another $40-50, and then that leaves a little over $200 for snacks, counter service food. I'm having a hard time imagining me spending that much.

So thoughts, what do you all think? Help me if I am missing something. I've never done DDP before (obviously ). TIA! :goodvibes

Sorry just have to ask a question...you said you have 3 table service meals planned. So the $158, is that for 2 ppl, 3 table services? That's a good price.:thumbsup2

Yes, of course, its approximate and doesn't include taxes. I used the prices on the Allears menus to figure it out.

2 resort mugs - $28
Via Napoli (fritto misto, 1 individual pizza, 2 side salads) - $52
LTT (pot roast, colony salad - we split) - $38
Wolfgang Dinner - one entree style meal/one pizza (didn't include our martinis since its not included in the dining plan anyway ;)) - $40

There's our $158 :thumbsup2

If you plan on splitting meals you are better off paying OOP.

Those are my kind of meals.....lol

Using your total of $158... add $3 per person per restaurant if you want soft drinks (an average), so that's another $18 = $176. Add the CS meals (estimate of $14 per person) times 3 and that'd be another $84 (14 * 2 * 3) to equal $260.

Toss in the tax that you'd be saving on the plan, and that's ~$17 right there, pushing it up to $277 if OOP. And we haven't taken TS Desserts or Snacks into count yet (easily another $6-8 per person per restaurant, and $3 per person per snack plus applicable taxes).

This is all assuming that you are staying 3 nights.

If you wanted to do the dining plan you could book 1 day tickets and then once you get there go to guest services and upgrade that ticket to the florida 4 day pass. That way you arent purchasing a non discounted ticket.
so for example if the ticket on the package is worth 79 (im not sure what it is right now) then you upgrade to the fl 4 day (119) you would pay the difference.
