Help! Le Cellier vs Yachtsman - Should I change my ADR

Ok, now that Le Cellier has changed their menu and prices, I'm considering switching my ADR from Le Cellier to Yachtsman. Since two members of my family order filet and both "strongly dislike" mushrooms the menu does not appeal to them quite as much. Also since the prices went up at Le Cellier, they are now almost as high as Yachtman Steakhouse.

We have been to Le Cellier in the past and have really enjoyed our meals, but have never tried Yachstman. For those of you who have...any comments? Don't know if ADR's are available, but it is worth a try if it means a better dining experience.

It is getting tougher to stay ahead of all these menu changes when you need to get ADR's 180 days out. I fully understand why menus need to be changed periodically, but it can make it tricky when you have picky eaters in the family. We are also eating at Ohanas, but fortunately the changes there are acceptable (will miss the potatoes though).

Thanks for your input!

We've eaten at both LeCellier and Yachtsmans Steakhouse. While LeCellier was very good, it didn't compare to YS. The service was excellent at YS as was our meal. If price is not an issue, I would switch your ADR to YS

There have been some excellent reviews of Yachtsman lately. I haven't been there but I think with the recent change at LeCellier, Yachtsman would be my choice.:goodvibes

We have been to Le Cellier twice and Yachtsman once. (Both trips in the past three years.) Le Cellier was very good...great food and enthusiastic service. I believe for an entree all of us had the filet (how boring!) but it was delicious.

The beef was far better at the Yachtsman. But truly the biggest difference was our dining experience. This was a white tablecloth/black tie experience. Our server really listened to our questions. The food/wine pairings were excellent. When we had a preparation question, the chef came out to speak with us. IMHO it's a completely different level of dining than Le Cellier.

Kevin on the podcast reviewed Le Cellier at the end of December. The review was not very favorable.

Ate at the Yachtsmen last December and really enjoyed it vs our last visit there prior, they too, have changed menu's, etc. Was just reading posts on this board from other folks so upset with the changes at LeCelliar and think change is hard for anyone in any walk of life, be it a job, home and now even a restaurant! I've always viewed to give things a chance and one may be surprised and pleased by the 'new and improved', perhaps not......if you've never been to the Yachtsmen, try it! It is more 'upscale' than LeCelliiar, to me, atmosphere makes it more of something to sit back and enjoy and go ahhhh (a break from the WDW madness). LeCelliar, while the food was good, no dress code, just folks all piled up waiting to be seated, tired, hot screaming kids.............

Why do the two members of your party who order filets and "strongly dislike" mushrooms have to get mushrooms? Just about anything can be altered to suit the guest. Ask for the filet without mushrooms. My husband ALWAYS asks for his steak "naked" and to bring the ketchup. He has never been denied either at Disney World or in the real world.

Only when things are premixed can you not ask for an ingredient to be left off. Trust me, we cruised with my mother-in-law for a full week and not single one of her dishes (after the first one) had cilantro in it. She says it tastes like tin foil.

We've eaten at Le Cellier half a dozen times and at Yachtsman only once. We enjoyed both and are returning the Le Cellier in August for lunch despite the menu changes. We really enjoyed Yachtsman and thought our meal was excellent. If we were in the mood to dress better and spend the extra money we would definitely go back. If we stay at Boardwalk or Beach Club again it would definitely be on our list of places to go. But we felt we needed to dress nicer than a park restaurant (and the atmsphere warranted dressing up a bit) and we didn't care for walking around all day in nicer clothes. But we were staying at SSR and it was just too out of our way to return to the room and shower and change for dinner. But we will probably stay at the Boardwalk again and I would definitely choose the Yachtsman over Le Cellier if I were staying nearby.

Hi!

I have been to both Le Cellier and Yachtmans Steakhouse and by far would choose Yachtmans if money was not an issue. The steaks are fantastic (and I am not a big steak lover to begin with). As a PP stated, Yachtmans atmosphere is also much more subdued and a nice change from the hustle and bustle and crowdness at Le Cellier.

Either way you will have a good meal!

Yachtsman times eleventygabillion. The atmosphere is so much better, the tables aren't as close together, you can get a table by the window w/ a view of Stormalong Bay, the steak is quite a bit better, the service is excellent, and the bread served with fresh butter and roasted garlic is *wonderful*.

We've been on nearly every trip. We took my stepmother and sister, and my stepmother isn't a big beef eater; she likes her steak WELL WELL done. They cooked it perfectly (burnt shoe leather...), and it was just about her favorite meal on the trip.

Ask for Zach, if he's still working there. :thumbsup2

I agree with disnut8. If you want to eat at Le Cellier, stick with it. The food isn't pre-made; if someone doesn't want the mushrooms, simply order the filet plain.

While the steak is good at Le Cellier, it doesn't hold a candle to YSH. The quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere (essentially the whole dining experience) are so much better at YSH.

Its all a matter of preference - but they are 2 different restaurants. LeCellier I have always felt on top of the table next to us and our last 2 meals there were nothing to write home about. They appeared to rush us.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is the #1 Signature Dining Disney owned restaurant on Disney property they hand cut their steaks daily and freshly prepare all of their food daily. I have had 8 birthday celebrations there over the last 2 years and everyone has loved the food and the atmosphere. After we have left they have asked when are we going back?

Have a great time whichever restaurant you choose.

I agree, we've done both as well, and the Yachtsman’s Steakhouse hands down has the better fillet!

If given the choice would choose Yachtsman’s every time.

Good luck!
