Hi all,
just wanted to see if anyone could help us...we really want to stay on the disney site in late 2012 from aug onwards.

the problem we are facing is the size of our family! we have 4 children all under 11 so the option of 2 rooms just isnt practical and the prices for this are enormous!!

any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :confused3

You could look at Saratoga Springs and OKW as options as they can sleep a large family, dependant on which villa size you choose.

We have stayed in a 2 bed villa at Saratoga Springs and that one sleeps 8. Basically a double bed in one room, a sofa bed in living room and two double beds in second bedroom.

You could look at renting points from a dvc member for a dvc stay our fav is old key west. You have a king in the master with a hug jaquzzi tub and separate shower full kitchen and living room. Living room has a sleeper chIr and a pull out couch. The second bedroom has two beds pluse a bathroom and kitchenette. Good luck

thankyou treehuggnmama!
im new to disboards could you explain how you would rent points from dvc members?

thankyou!:)

If you are wanting to stay on disney property August 2012 onwards I would look to see when the free dining is on offer for 2012 as that is a huge saving as well.

I booked my SSR holiday with www.disneyworld.co.uk which includes flights with Virgin. I got a good deal for this October/November.

Usually it works out cheaper to book things yourself rather than as a package. The above website also allows you to book just accommodation and park tickets as well.

Have fun planning your trip

For UK travellers we get better rates for OKW & SSR with free dining certain times of year, far better than US travellers are offered usually.
Example 2 bed at either resort next August = £3,248($5424) incl DDP for upto 8 people(with purchase of tix)
To rent points for the same dates(1st-15th Aug) would require 592 for OKW or 630 for SSR depends on price paid but at only $10/pt its more than UK offer with free food.

CAROLINE4, I have no idea how much food you would eat for 2 adults and 4 children, for us being 3 adults we averaged $163/day last year, thats $2,282 just for food so while your initial room seems expensive at £3,248 for 2 weeks the free food does offset the cost.

Hiya, and welcome to the DIS :welcome:

I too am a Mum of 4, our family consist of DH and myself, DS10, DS9, DS6 and DD4.

Unfortunately our options are quite limited when it come to on-site accomodation for larger families.

In the past we have stayed at Fort Wilderness Campground in one of the Cabin. They sleep 6 in total but I must admit, although we loved our time at Fort Wilderness (my favourite resort) space inside the cabins is very limited.

For the past 3 trips we have stayed in a 2 bedroomed property at SSR, like Wayne said, you cannot go wrong with a large family taking up the 42% off offer which includes free dining. We collected our receipts for just one week during our first trip using the free dining and for the 6 of us in just one week we would have spent over $2500 on food :scared1:

The only other option for you at the moment is a family room (sleep 6) at All Star resort, but this is just a room. If you were then to add on the dining plan the overall cost would actually be more staying at the All Stars, which is only a moderate resort, than saying at SSR/OKW with free dining which is a Delux DVC Resort.

Feel free to ask any further questions:)

Thankyou everyone ssr seems to be our best option for 2012! especially with such big discounts i see what you mean about it being worth the money with the free disney dining plan as 3 of my children are growing boys so they eat constantly!"! lol!

thankyou :yay:

Deal is same at OKW or SSR - see which you prefer.

The 2 bed villas at OKW are huge.

Don't know what ages your children are but consider getting them adult tickets to qualify for adult DDP, far more choice on the menu.

I would go for OKW myself, I prefer the resort and the 2 bed villa is 1395 Sq Ft, SSR is only 1069 Sq Ft

yes, the 2 BR at OKW is 1,395 sq ft and is HUGE....hugely huge..

we loved staying there.....
everything is so spacious....the living room, master bedroom and 2nd bedroom....all very very roomy...and the bathrooms are as well....
and with its own laundry room with a full size washer and dryer..

and with a large balcony too...with a table and chairs out on the balcony so you can eat out there (if the heat doesn't get you :) )

OKW looks fab and with three very energetic boys the more space the better!

as for the price, i went on disney site and the dates we would liketo go have the free ddp so the money we will save not paying parking and on food all day in the parks makes it feel like all our costs are paid in advance so that all we need worry about is money for souvenirs!!
thanks for the help all! :cheer2:

We are a family of 5 and have booked OKW for 2012 - the two bed villa. It looks huge.:goodvibes Plus, all that free food....;)

All very useful ;)
I was only talking to my brother the other day as he wants to go in 2012. Theyve got 4 children too, I forgot about OKW-will look into that:thumbsup2

I also suggested The Art of Animation Resort. Thats supposed to be available for larger families and its due to open in 2012 isnt it?

I think it's due to open Summer 2012, I would love to know when they are opening up dates for booking as we are looking at going back in 2012 :)

Are you classed as an adult at 12 in disney hotels? i ask this because i could get prices for june (my eldest will still be 11) but not for august when he will be 12!
