We have been many times and seem to stay in moderates most often.
I was all set to splurg and stay in the Poly this fall. Have a res there and everything. Now that free dining came out, I started repricing things and am now doubting my decision. We could save about $600 and stay at WL or even save 1400 if we stayed at a moderate.

I just don't know what to do. I do all the planning....I was going to surprise hubby with Poly, but he would be all for saving the money. Is the Ploy really worth that extra $$?

If we do end up going back to a moderate (which I love) I want to give Caribbean Beach a second try or maybe even CS....although hubby has mentioned he really doesn't want to stay at CS (just not his thing)

SOOO Confused....please help

If you are able to afford it I would go with the Polynesian because of their theme, big rooms, Resort Monorail access and a walkway to the Transportation & Ticket Center, so it's very easy getting to the Epcot Monorail.

I feel your pain! We are currently booked for the Poly with Free Dining but I am second guessing our decision. We were originally booked with the WL but when Free Dining came out we decided to go to the Poly for the convenience of the monorail with the two young kids. I would at least do a deluxe, but I am zero help to you with which one since I am in the same dilemma. Decisions, decisions.... Good Luck deciding!

I would consider the importance of the following

Using the monorail
room size
location, what park(s) you plan to visit the most
hot tub (Poly doesn't have one)
theming that you like

If you can afford to spend the money it comes down to your perceived value of the resort that you stay at, we prefer to be near the MK, the boat rides to the MK & CR, using the hot tub, & we like the theming of the WL.

All this and so much more...

In the end, do what you can do and what will make you happy.

This will be our first trip to Disney :) We are currently booked at the Poly although we were originally considering AKL or WL. I don't think we will be able to go very often (probably only once every four or five years) so I really wanted this trip to be special. Hopefully, it will be!

I'm doing the same thing...I really was set on going back to AKL for our next family trip...and doing the big splurge trip too. Since both kids are getting older, I was thinking this would be our last big family vacation for awhile.

Now that my DS's are both 6'2", I was probably going to book 2 rooms so that everyone could have their own bed. Two rooms at a deluxe (even AKL) is making this trip an expensive one. We could save over $1700 by going to a moderate - 2 rooms (probably POFQ). I'm really thinking that the $1700 difference in price is substantial. That's ALOT of money!

Trying to decide if 2 rooms is even necessary too - the 'kids' would probably be just fine sharing a queen bed, right? :confused3. If we stay at a moderate (1 room) and save $700+ vs. 2 rooms at a moderate...

We really don't spend much time at the resort because we are commando types at the parks!

I'll be reading the responses you get to help me decide too! :goodvibes

If the extra cost is doable, I say keep the Poly :). The year we stayed at the Poly it was during free dining and I kept thinking the WL is great as well and also cheaper (we had stayed at WL twice already). But since the Poly was at the top of our list to try, I kept it. After staying there, I am so glad I didn't change and I have no regrets whatsoever spending the extra money over the WL ;). The WL is a great resort, but we love the Poly.....the tropical atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, the beach is great for watching the fireworks, walking to the TTC is very convenient, and seeing the castle from just about anywhere on the Poly grounds is magical :wizard:. If you have always wanted to stay at the Poly, I say go for it and give it a try :goodvibes.

:confused:I'm worried you're putting too much pressure on the resort to make this trip as outrageously magical as the commercials. But I am here to tell you -- and I think others will tell you this as well -- that it's not the resorts that make the Disney Magic, it's the whole Disney experience, from walking off your plane onto the Magical Express (where I officially deem it to be Magic Time and put on my Ears) to taking your first step down Main Street toward the the Castle, it's all part of what makes the trip so special -- well, that and knowing that many of the thousands of others near you that day are feeling the same thing.:wizard:

You say you can't go often, and I get that. Neither can we, so we make the whole trip count. Your trip is going to be Magical because you want it to be, not because of where you stay. I have never stayed at a Deluxe. I would love to because it's a new DW experience, but staying at CBR and POR were unbelievably wonderful events in my life -- in my family's life. They didn't make or break our trips, though.

It's the reason the people in the camp grounds love DW and all the rest of us do. You are going to feel the Magic regardless where you stay because YOU ARE THE MAGIC and you want to share it so badly you are HERE now! Got it?:goodvibes

Relax, DisAmigo! (I just made that up, can I patent on DisAmigo?):rotfl2:You are well on your way to making many, many magical memories for you and your family. They will come naturally, because you are open to them. Keep your reservations at the Polynesian. It's a fantastically beautiful resort with a million things to do. I've never stayed there but I've played there and I love Ohana. You will too. And stroll out to the Tiki Bar for a martini. Tell the bartender to put it on my tab. Lord knows he should remember me.

You are gonna have soooo much fun I am totally jealous -- and happy for you. (mostly happy for you!) pixiedust:

This is lovely heartfelt post. :cloud9:

OP ~ Our family only stays at the Poly -- we love it. This year we are trying something new (AKL CL) If you want to go all out, go for it, no regrets. But for me it would either be Poly or Poly. :upsidedow

But since you are okay with the mods, I would choose either the Poly or mods, I like their themes much better. :goodvibes

Why don't you try for a bunk bed room at WL??

Why don't you try for a bunk bed room at WL??

From what I understand, the bunk beds at AKL & WL are pretty small - not sure my 2 DS's will fit in them. We've stayed at the GCH at DL when they were younger, and they barely fit in those bunk beds!

Thanks for the thought, though!

I really appreciate your (obviously) heartfelt input. I really really like the idea that we are the magic! Our daughter will be four during our trip and I really really think that being close to the TTC will help prevent potential toddler (and parent) meltdowns. We are planning to spend four out of six park days at either Magic Kingdom or Epcot. I also chose the Poly because it appeals to my husband. I want him to have a great time so we can go again! I do agree with you in a way, though, that I am counting on the resort to make this trip extra magical!

XOXO
