I close on my DVC in December. Please tell me I am making the right decision in going to SSR.

I have never been but I like the close proximity to DDT. However, I would like to be able to use my points at another DVC sometimes.

Do you think it will be a problem? When is the best time of the year to use DVC points at another resort.

Thanks for your help!!!

We own at SSR and have had no trouble getting into every other DVC (we wanted to try them each once). I had to waitlist for VWL on NYD, and for a BW View in June - but both requests came through within about a month of placing them.

SSR is a lovely resort, it's relatively easy to book, it's got great recreation/dining, and really elegant/classy rooms. Plus, it's got very reasonable annual fees. You'll be glad to own there.

WELCOME HOME Snowbell!!

I also just purchased SSR and close in November. In conversations with MS, it is not difficult to book at 7 months at most DVC with the exception of the Christmas season. Even then, people do get in. :)

My philosophy is - who cares - we're at WDW and what could be better. :cloud9:

October is difficult at BCV and BWV due to the wine festival and can be difficult at the other resorts. Holidays are tight at most resorts as well, but outside of those times you should be able to book at the 7 month window. We like staying at the other DVC resorts as well, but we LOVE staying at SSR. If you have gotten past the money decision, I am sure you will come to appreciate your purchase over the years and the vacations to come.

I will offer up my opinion of the resort in December - our first visit. I am still a little curious as to how much better it will be than POFQ which we loved.

My guess is we will have a great time and be very happy with our purchase, but I like you sometimes wonder if it is the right choice.

Looking forward to many, many trips to wdw.

We have owned at SSR since 2003 and absolutely love it - we always intended to try all the resorts but have never quite got around to it...we just love SSR too much!:cloud9: Earlier this year we added on at AVK so booked a stay there to use up some of our developer points, and decided to finally try another resort as well. So, in May we are doing a split stay; 8 nights at AKV (studio, savanna view) and 6 nights at BWV (1BR, standard view). We booked seven months out and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. :)

Thanks to everyone for your input. I cannot wait to start my first DVC vacation. Hopefully I will be able to start with a long weekend in June. :cool1: :cool1:

I completely agree.. I rather be at disney than no disney :woohoo: That is what I told my TA -- I think the worst part is that I won't be able to use her anymore.

We weren't sure about SSR, but we rented points and stayed there for 10nts in June and loved it so much we bought while we were there!

End of July we booked for BWV in December and at the 7mth pt we booked OKW for Easter. I'm excited to try both of those, but I do feel a little sad that we won't be truly at home.

Did you book a studio or something bigger. I think I will only need a studio and that is where my fear lies.. :sad2:

For our Dec trip we got a 1br at BWV and a studio at SSR (for my dad). It was about 4mths out when I made the ressie. Easter we're getting a 2br at OKW, MIL & FIL are joining us. We had our choice of room types then.

We are SSR owners and enjoyed staying there this past August for the first time. We are also the type of family that likes to stay at all of the different DVC resorts. We will have OKW, HH and VB left to try after our May 2008 trip to BCV. For us there is something to like about each resort and each is unique. I don't think you will be disappointed with SSR. While it is large, it's also beautifully landscaped, has several quiet pools, a wonderful main pool area, a spa, proximity to DTD (some of the nicest views), the villas are new and not in need of rehab, has grand villas available, the dues are low, membership is good thru 2054, etc., etc..... Congratulations & enjoy your new DVC membership :goodvibes
