DH and I did Jiko on our last trip and loved it. The food was great as was the wine and we enjoyed the atmosphere as well.

Now I'm planning our ADRs for our upcoming December trip and I've had my eye on Citricos. DH is OK with Jiko again and seems somewhat disappointed with the thought of not going there. As much as I enjoyed it, he will probably eat the exact same thing we had there last time - the filet. If we go to Citricos, he will probably eat the filet. In fact, EVERYWHERE we go, he eats the filet.

So, have you been to Citricos and if so, what did you think? Would you go again? Would you do it instead of Jiko or in addition to?

Please help me out here as I have to make my ADRs in 17 days.

TIA!

I had a really lovely dining experience at Citrico's last year. It's a beautiful restaurant, and the menu was quite nice (seasonal, fresh ingredients). I had tilefish, which is a rather unusual find on Florida menus. Overall a great dinner. But I really love Jiko, too, and I've been there several times. If you can manage, I'd say go to both. I think the cuisines are different enough to make it worth your while. Have fun!

I agree Jiko is absolutely wonderful, was one of my favourite evening meals at Disney on my last trip. Food was gorgeous and I especially liked all the vegetarian options (since I don't eat meat and only eat tuna fish). Atmosphere was superb as you said and our server in particular was really warm and friendly, which made it even more enjoyable.

I also went to Citricos and although it was nice, it didn't really impress me. The food was good don't get me wrong although the choice for me was particularly limiting. Our server was also particularly dozy, we did the wine pairings - which she pretty much forgot to bring for every single course. It was just kind of irritating to have to constantly call her over with a reminder. She ended up putting some of them on the house it got that bad. The atmosphere for me was also a little off, it was formal and well slightly too formal. I'm not going back there this trip anyways.

I think I'd definitely choose Jiko if it was a decision I had to make - although could be nice for you to just try somewhere different. I'm sure other people had a better experience than me at Citricos and I guess you can't say it's not for you until you've tried it.

We went to Jiko and we loved it.We never went to Citrico's but it sounds good.

We had the best meal of our last trip at Citricos - food was exceptional and service excellent. We have also eaten at Jiko in the past and loved it. (I am also a fan of the Jiko filet but love fish as well).

If you haven't tried Citircos yet, I'd recommend you give it a try. If you are really torn between the two, can't do both and can't make up your mind, go with the one that will be the easiest for you to get to. :) They're both great!

You can do both if not then go to Citricos since you haven't been there yet. We love both and usually go to both while at WDW.

Try Citricos - might as well try something new!

I'll tell you, the filet at Citricos was fabulous when we went last. I loved our meal there! (I also loved Jiko)

Jiko and Citricos are two of our favorite restaurants at WDW. We either do both or try and alternate between the two.

I would look at the two menus and try to decide which one you would prefer. I'm also tempted to suggest Citricos since you've never been there, but if you really like the Jiko menu better, go with what you like.

I've never been to Jiko's so I can't compare the two restaurants, but we ate at Citrico's last trip and loved it. Specifically I had the filet that your husband will likely eat if you choose to go there and can say without any reservation that it was awesome. The best steak I've had in a long time, and somewhat like your husband, I tend to order the filet a lot when I eat out (not every time mind you,! but fairly often) so I think that's saying something. It was an excellent cut of meat cooked perfectly.

I understand the conflict between deciding whether or not to return to places you've loved or to try something new! We had the same problem when we chose ADRs for our upcoming trip in October. We ended up making ADRs at new places (one of them being Jiko) for 4 of our 6 nights and picking old favorites for the other two. Citrico's was one of the two that made the cut. ;)

Thanks for chiming in, everyone! We've decided to go with Jiko again. I can't really say why at this point except that we so enjoyed our last experience there that DH really wants to try it again. I honestly adored the wine list so I'm surely not complaining.

Also, we're contemplating a move to Tampa anyway and will be purchasing APs and spending more time at the World. We are essentially just planning to go on a future trip.

I appreciate all the opinions. It's hard to make a choice between two truly amazing places!

OK - one more question. Have any of y'all that have done Jiko ever sat at the counter? What did you think and would you recommend this?

The counter is the ONLY place my wife will settle for at Jiko's. The interaction with the staff is wonderful. You get to see all of the appetizers prepared by the staff. If either of you are true foodies, you'll love sitting at the counter.

Is this something you request when you make the ADR or do you ask when you check in? How long have you typically waited to get counter seating?

We sat at "The Cooking Place" and will request it again. The interaction with the chefs and the sampling are quite a different experience from anything we've had anywhere else.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We requested it when we checked in and had no wait at all, here's some pics:
