Help - I've lost my enthusiasm

Hi all, been away a long time - according to my stats my last visit was back in August :confused3

We're all booked to go back to Florida in August this year but I can honestly say I'm not bothered about going. I was looking forward to my new Brit Guide which was duly delivered at the end of October but since then I haven't made any plans or even read the book. Usually by now we'd have travel insurance in place, an outline itinerary and the countdown would be well underway but I just can't be bothered. Today I tried to muster up some excitement but it just wasn't there and if weren't for the children wanting to go I could quite happily cancel it all and not bother.

So, how do I get my love of Disney back? Has anyone else ever felt like this and, more importantly does it pass or should I be looking at cancelling it?

I really can't understand why I feel like this or think of any reason why I should be feeling this way.

Oh dear  since you've felt like this since October it's a bit worrying. Did you feel like this when you booked? It would be a shame to cancel when the children are excited about going but maybe you could tweak your plans ie perhaps a week at the beach and a week at WDW rather than 2 weeks at Disney? :confused3

Hopefully it'll pass and you'll start feeling more enthusiastic nearer the time?

I totally understand this. I felt much the same way about our November holiday. I had booked this back December last year, but I kind of went through the motions. At the 7 months mark, I switched a few nights to another resort, but I still could not get excited. The window to make our dining reservations opened and I pretty much just ignored it. Then August came and I spotted a really good deal on a cruise on the Disney Magic that fit in well with our plans. I realised that for me, a cruise has become a critical part of a Disney holiday. Once this was booked, I was bouncing off the wall with excitement and started to plan and arrange stuff. The irony is that even though the cruise was amazing, my favourite part of the holiday was actually the time we spent at WDW, which turned out to be truly magical.

 Sorry you're feeling like this hun, I hope it passes soon as you know once you're there you will have a fab time ::yes::

I too don't have the same enthusiasm for WDW as I once did. Like Corinna, a Disney Cruise is more important to me. At the moment I would really love to do a back-to-back cruise with just a couple of days in WDW, but I know my hubby is torn as he loves WDW so much

I hope you're excitement returns as you near your holiday :)

:hug: Hope you feel you're Disney magic soon, have you got any DVD's of previous visits? I always watch ours when I'm feeling a bit down, it always reminds me of how much fun the children have when they are there :hug:

When we went in December 2012 I felt the same way. Meh, been there done that. However, as soon as we arrived at MCO my daughter said to me 'Don't ever tell me you are done with Disney. Your face is completely happy'. And that is how I felt for 8 days.

That magic will come back to you, you are allowed to go off things, you know!

Try reading some trip reports - that always makes me more excited about going especially when there are lots of pictures to make me remember all the lovely sights and things to do.

Hope you find something that works for you:goodvibes

We go at the end of the month and normally from about 8 weeks api am so excited I'm driving every one mad but christmas really distracted me and I really didn't feel like we were going and wasn't as excited.

Now christmas has gone and the tree is down I have thrown myself in to the planning and I am now more excited then ever. :)

Like others have said can you try reading some of your favourite TRs, watch some YouTube I love Bosox2001 he has three great Disney family videos and of course there Phil, Emma and Ben.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I've been reading a few trip reports and looking back at previous photos and holiday notes (I never did get round to actually doing the proper scrapbook of the trips). It's helped a bit but last night at work I finally put my finger on the problem.

I was chatting to one of the young lads who was telling me he'd overspent at Christmas and was completely broke and then it dawned on me - my problem is the amount of money I'm spending when, to be honest, there's so much that needs doing to the house.

Today I have booked Discovery Cove, not because I'm getting excited but because I came across a good deal that ends today.

I think I'm going to have to try to reconcile it with myself and not think about what I could spend the money on instead. New carpets, settees and a kitchen will have to wait yet another year.

I don't feel as though I have lost my enthusiasm for Disney holidays ... I am just coming around to the thought that there are so many places in the world that I want to see aswell now, that with limited time and money I should be broadening my horizons. For that reason we are thinking about a Florida road trip in 2014, which may incorporate some other southern states depending on how much time off I can get. May pop to Orlando for a day or 2 in the programme but I am starting to feel that spending the whole 2 weeks in WDW is getting to be a bit too predictable.

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to go there with low expectations. The less you're thinking abut it, maybe the more you're likely to really have a good time, and be genuinely surprised and impressed with certain things.

I totally agree. We went to DLP in December with no expectations as we had a bad trip previous and we ended up having the best time x

On a side note, it's weird that I'd never tire of booking to go back to wdw. Even if I had a nightmare trip. The draw to go back is just too strong!
