Hi- we had to switch our ressie from POR. To CBR to get free dining for our dates. Anyone who has stayed here...is it worth paying for the preferred rooms to be closer?? Are the other villages that much further?? Any advice is appreciated!!

Hi!

For me it is definitely worth it to upgrade to Preferred room. But, I have a bad knee, and find it a hassle to walk far with my two kids (I go to Disney without my husband, and I go when the weather is very hot and humid; so, the kids being able to walk to the food court, pool, movie on their own is huge for me (they'd get lost if were weren't in the preferred area)). Also, I didn't rent a car on that trip.

I can easily see some people not thinking it is worth the extra cost: if you don't visit the food court and pool area several times a day, and if you have a car, then might not be worth the upgrade. Also, people who stay at the farther most areas (I've heard it is 1 mile round trip walk from one village to the food court; I haven't confirmed that but google maps would show you distances) like it because it is peaceful. It is a beautiful walk - the grounds are very pretty - lots of palm trees, etc.

Good luck! Pros and cons to every decision (for me at least - wish it was simpler)!

We stayed at CBR back in 2009 and we had paid extra for the preferred room. If we stayed there again, we would pay for preferred again. The preferred buildings are the closest to the main pool, dining, and food court. The resort is very spread out so if you think you are going to use the pool quite a bit, and eat a few meals there, it's more than worth it to get a preferred room.

We requested a room in a building just across the bridge from the pool/food court. I think it was building 45. You could request building 45 or 51 and it would just be a nice walk across the bridge to everything. These are standard rooms, so no upcharge for preferred. They are probably not as close as the preferred rooms, but not much more of a walk.

You can find a map of the resort on-line to see if it would work for you.

Thanks for this! Of course, the preferred rooms are booked for free dining at this point, so just had our TA add this request to our reservation. I know it's not guaranteed, but worth a shot! So thankful for tips like this from all of you!!

after staying at cbr quite a few times over the years, this trip next month I booked prefered, most of the time I havent and really didnt mind any of the walks we had , dont know why I this time I deceided to upgrade, just thought Id splurge a little I quess. It really is a beautiful resort and Id be happy anywhere there!:thumbsup2

We've stayed at the CBR 10 times and have only booked preferred once because that was the only thing available. Our longest walk to Old Port Royale (food court, main pool, marina, etc.) was from Barbados Bldg. 11 and then it was only about a 7 minute walk. The walks from other standard rooms were about 5 minutes. My 79 year old mother has gone with us three times and she had no problems, whatsoever, walking around and she has arthritis in her feet and knees.

appreciate all the feedback! we definitely dont mind a walk either, especially on those beuatiful grounds!! it will be fine no matter where we end up! looking forward to seeing the resort in person!!
