My husband is currently deployed and we are hoping he will return early 2005. We have promised my daughter a Disney Cruise when Daddy gets back. Her incentive to learn to swim while he is gone. I looked on the website and was unable to find any available dates. With the uncertainty of his schedule, I was trying not to plan too far in advance. How far in advance are cruises normally scheduled? Now I am afraid this won't be possible. Any help is very much appreciated.

Where did you check...the DCL website? If so try a few other places like www.allseastravel.com or Dreams Unlimited Travel, etc.

Many times TA's have space held when the DCL website shows nothing available. Also inquire about military discounts.

You may even be able to put your name on a waiting list with DCL directly....explain your situation and see what they can do.

Do check other TA's you may be able to find something.

Edited to add that I just checked all seas travel website and they are showing availability on many of the summer 2005 sailings.

Great, Thanks for the info. I will look into it. We are all so excited and looking forward to a nice family trip. I would hate to have to put it off.

Just remember that the Magic is going to be on the West Coast most of Summer 2005. That means only the Wonder will be sailing out of Florida from May - late August.

I just checked all seas....they are showing availability on many summer 2005 sailings.

You can deposit and get a full refund up until a 60 days beforehand so I would book....you could always cancel later. Also keep asking them about military discounts...sometimes they do not become available until closer to sailing...if they do become available your TA can adjust the price.

memymonica, I truly hope you can arrange to sail next summer with your marine! My husband is a retired marine and I got married and had my first baby in Jacksonville, NC. I hope his deployment goes fast and you have a wonderful reunion. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, This is our second time out. First was over 9 months. Had to postpone our Disney trip twice (2 extentions). Finally got to go and had a wonderful time. Now, want to try a cruise. Jacksonville has really grown. I bet you wouldn't recognize it. Were you at Lejuene or MCAS New River?

We were at both, actually. He was stationed at New River, got married in the chapel there, then had our reception at the Camp Lejuene Officer's Club. Had my son at Onslow memorial! Went to Okinawa, Memphis, Cherry Point.

I come back to Jacksonville- Havelock area every year to drop my boys off at summer camp (Camp Seagull). It is in Arapahoe. So I always take time to shop at the exchange and visit my friends. I was AMAZED at Jacksonville. It is so big, and some of it is so worn down. I Used to work at Family Services in Family Advocacy. I miss the USMC sometimes. We have so many wonderful memories and friends. My best friends are still those I met when he was active duty.

Its a hard but very fullfilling life. I admire you and your husband. Being a USMC wife is very, very tough. I had a baby in Japan, and when he was in ICU (he is fine now) I had to deal with that without family or friends. And then the longggg seperations. But you know all about that. Keep in touch and let me know how things are going!

We are going on the Wonder in September. I can't wait.
